2011 Weight Loss Thread!

Since 1st of June I have lost 3 and half pounds, this isn't great considering what I have been putting in, in terms of exercise, need to cut out the silly things like alcohol.

Anyone with young children here? I have a 1 year old Mon->Wed I have to take him to nursery by 8:20 in the morning, on those evenings I spend an extra couple of hours in work studying for some exams coming up.

Thursday and Friday mornings I use for lie in's and on those evenings I like to spend some time with my wife.

I just can't seem to find the time for the gym at the moment, how do others do it

Started just over five weeks ago and I'm totally shifting it :) Decided after easter that enough was enough, and it was time to sort myself out after nearly two years of takeaways and booze at uni. Been cooking from scratch, loads of veg, no takeaways, that sort of thing. Been trying to keep myself under 1200kcal, 1500kcal on a 'bad' day. Might seem extreme, but I'm making sure I'm getting all the nutrients and vitamins and such-like that I need. I'm just tired of being tubby.

I'd never say I LOOKED fat, per se; I hold my weight very well. Most people, when I mentioned I was dieting, asked why, then refused to believe that I was 16 and a half stone! For me though, it was simply down to feeling unattractive, not liking taking my top off etc. Also it was to do with the other half - while she'd never say I needed to lose weight, she's a lovely slim size 10 and makes me feel fat :p

Anyway, details:

So as of Tuesday, I'd lost 13lb. I weigh myself on a Tuesday morning, and try to keep it to just once a week - that said, being so close to the one stone mark on Tuesday made me weigh myself this morning, and I've now lost bang on a stone in just over five weeks :D

I'm well aware that the first bit of weight is the easiest to shift, but hopefully once I'm home from uni in a few weeks time, I'll have loads of spare time to go cycling and to the gym, allowing me to keep up the weight loss!

If I can carry on at this rate, I'll be well into or past my goal weight by the time I return to uni at the start of October! :)

I'm the same - I have no time to go out to a gym, either. When I'm not looking after my 22 month-old, I'm working from home or keeping the place clean & tidy. I essentially have three full-time jobs at the moment!

Gym would do nothing for me anyway.

How are you guys weighing yourselves? I have scales, but I think they were about £1 from Argos or something. Will they do, or is it worth getting some decent ones?

even if they are not accurate, they will give you a personal trend. try and make sure you weigh yourself on solid ground not wood joists/floorboards.

I've been without gym for some time and i really miss it, problem is i don't have a lot of money till i get a full time job. Blame the job center they turn me away till a scheme comes in

However, why do some gyms have such expensive joining fees!. The local gym is only £25 a month with no joining fee, but the one i want to join is about 6-12miles away, total of £50 for the first month then £30 every start of new month.

It's purely a money making scam as far as I'm concerned they are already tying you into a contract and making money each month there's no need for it, if you complain enough most places will waive it.

DW fitness

If you join between the 1st & 15th of the month you will pay for the remaining part of the current month and your DD will be debited the following month. If you join between the 16th and the end of the month you will pay the remaining part of the month, plus the following month and then your DD will be debited the following month after.

I came in here to post an update to my progress:

I'm down to 17 stone 9lbs, and my size 36 jeans are now starting to fall down, but I've put a little muscle mass on too!

I am a very heavy bloke, a personal trainer i was talking to the other day who im going to start seeing had mentally estimated my weight to be about 14.5 15 stone, he was gobsmacked when i told him to add another 3 onto that!

My weight VS height still leaves me in the OBESE category of BMI It's not the best photo in the world, but i'm definitely not a bodybuilder although i do have a bit of muscle from resistance work (pushups etc), so how the hell can anyone praise the BMI when it's telling me im not just overweight, but OBESE?

I don't actually know my bodyfat percentage, and it would be interesting to know as the only actualy fat fat really left on my body is around my stomach and a tiny bit around my chest muscles. My legs are very solid and very large around the thigh area, i imagine almost all of my excess weight is here.

But yea, there's my update![/QUOTE]

I have a very similar build, am slightly heavier and 2" shorter, same issue with jeans ;). Body fat (skinfold assessment) was just over 14% at last check, going to get it done again in a few weeks.

Bit of an update then.

I've now got down to 22st 7 llb, and i'm hoping to get into the 21st bracket by the end of the month and i'm still on course for my 20st goal by June.

Again i'll reiterate i can't believe how much better i feel now with regards to fitness and levels of energy etc. It just gets better and better and i just keep thinking to myself now "if i feel this good at 22st, how much better will i feel at 16-17st and so on", so this has now become my another big motivator for me.

Thinking of joining a gym now, i've not gone that route rightly or wrongly up to now through embarressment, but i think the time is coming that i need to step it up a gear as i have no room at home for more exercise equipment. I think i've done well to get this far by myself at home with just dumbell weights, treadmill and a slam man, and of course the diet!!!

Another quick update:-

Now down to 20st 7llbs, still not got round to joining a gym.

Next goal is get into the 19's ASAP, hopefully a few weeks time, but I'm having a few issue's with motivation at the moment.

Last few weeks i've been on the treadmill 3-4 times a week for 1 hour at a time, done loads of boxing and weights and kept very strictly to the diet and one week i lost no weight and the second week i lost 1 pound. So it's gets a bit disheartening putting all that effort in for little gains at the moment. But i was expecting some bad weeks, so i just hope my perseverance will eventually pay off.

I feel mentally and physically superior since I've lost the 5 stone.

At the time it didn't seem to be an insecurity - it's only since I've lost the weight that I realise how much it got to me!

3 months progress
height 5 foot 7

left pic was 199lbs right pic 191lbs

tbh I can see change but not happy but considering I have had alcohol nearly every weekend in those 3 months, been for a few meals (birthdays/parties) and some of the days consumed 8 pints+, I think could look a lot better.

I feel 100% fitter and stronger than I did 3 months ago. I have lost 9lbs of weight, feels like I have lost 3 stone, left was 199lbs right 191lbs height 5 foot 7

Chest and stomach have changed the most and chins have gone, going to try and lose a 14lb but even that puts me at a BMI of 27.6 and overweight and keep lifting andI will be happy with my appearance.

Deit wise just eaten clean healthy food with plenty of water, lots of protein from chicken/turkey/tuna

All supplements I have used are omega369 and l-lysine amino acid

In for the thread !

I lost over 3 stone back in 2008 but through a combination of injury, eating too much and not going to the Gym regularly enough I've put about a stone back on so reality check and I am back on the regime again now.

Currently I am 105 kg's and aiming to get down to 95 kgs by the end of August so about 1kg a week. I'm 48 and only 5ft 10" but quite muscular so definitely room to go lower if I can keep it going !

Will do 3/4 Gym sessions a week, mostly cardio with some resistance and cut out all the sandwiches and junk during the day and replace with fruit / salad and smaller meal in the evenings..

There, I've posted it now so gonna have to do it ;) Wish me luck !

Although you're not happy overall with your progress, at least you know what you can do to make more! Well done so far, you can definitely see the difference!

Yeah, I only have motivation and my eating habits to blame if I dont lose anymore weight.

I weighed in at 20st dead this morning, my "progress" has been really slow these past few weeks in terms of pounds lost, however I'm feeling fitter and slimmer even though the pounds haven't shifted. I'll try and get a picture up tonight to compare to my last picture.

I'm now 9.12 from being 10.13 before xmas, taken a long time and still need to lose a few more pounds but I've got a routine that I can stick too (diet wise). Not bad considering I can't really do any exercise!

:)
