Decided after easter that enough was enough, and it was time to sort myself out after nearly two years of takeaways and booze at uni. Been cooking from scratch, loads of veg, no takeaways, that sort of thing. Been trying to keep myself under 1200kcal, 1500kcal on a 'bad' day. Might seem extreme, but I'm making sure I'm getting all the nutrients and vitamins and such-like that I need. I'm just tired of being tubby.

Anyone with young children here? I have a 1 year old Mon->Wed I have to take him to nursery by 8:20 in the morning, on those evenings I spend an extra couple of hours in work studying for some exams coming up.
Thursday and Friday mornings I use for lie in's and on those evenings I like to spend some time with my wife.
I just can't seem to find the time for the gym at the moment, how do others do it

I've been without gym for some time and i really miss it, problem is i don't have a lot of money till i get a full time job. Blame the job center they turn me away till a scheme comes in
However, why do some gyms have such expensive joining fees!. The local gym is only £25 a month with no joining fee, but the one i want to join is about 6-12miles away, total of £50 for the first month then £30 every start of new month.
It's purely a money making scam as far as I'm concerned they are already tying you into a contract and making money each month there's no need for it, if you complain enough most places will waive it.
If you join between the 1st & 15th of the month you will pay for the remaining part of the current month and your DD will be debited the following month. If you join between the 16th and the end of the month you will pay the remaining part of the month, plus the following month and then your DD will be debited the following month after.
I came in here to post an update to my progress:

I'm down to 17 stone 9lbs, and my size 36 jeans are now starting to fall down, but I've put a little muscle mass on too!
I am a very heavy bloke, a personal trainer i was talking to the other day who im going to start seeing had mentally estimated my weight to be about 14.5 15 stone, he was gobsmacked when i told him to add another 3 onto that!
My weight VS height still leaves me in the OBESE category of BMI It's not the best photo in the world, but i'm definitely not a bodybuilder although i do have a bit of muscle from resistance work (pushups etc), so how the hell can anyone praise the BMI when it's telling me im not just overweight, but OBESE?
I don't actually know my bodyfat percentage, and it would be interesting to know as the only actualy fat fat really left on my body is around my stomach and a tiny bit around my chest muscles. My legs are very solid and very large around the thigh area, i imagine almost all of my excess weight is here.
But yea, there's my update![/QUOTE]
I have a very similar build, am slightly heavier and 2" shorter, same issue with jeans ;). Body fat (skinfold assessment) was just over 14% at last check, going to get it done again in a few weeks.
Bit of an update then.
I've now got down to 22st 7 llb, and i'm hoping to get into the 21st bracket by the end of the month and i'm still on course for my 20st goal by June.
Again i'll reiterate i can't believe how much better i feel now with regards to fitness and levels of energy etc. It just gets better and better and i just keep thinking to myself now "if i feel this good at 22st, how much better will i feel at 16-17st and so on", so this has now become my another big motivator for me.
Thinking of joining a gym now, i've not gone that route rightly or wrongly up to now through embarressment, but i think the time is coming that i need to step it up a gear as i have no room at home for more exercise equipment. I think i've done well to get this far by myself at home with just dumbell weights, treadmill and a slam man, and of course the diet!!!
Wish me luck !snip
Although you're not happy overall with your progress, at least you know what you can do to make more! Well done so far, you can definitely see the difference!
