Just thought I'd post a little update on whats been happening with me.

I managed to get down to 18st10 the day before we left for our overnight stop in Gatwick before flying out to Orlando, the day we flew into Gatwick my diet stopped. I had all sorts of crap to eat just whilst in London for the day. We landed in Gatwick at 12pm and headed in to Crawley for lunch and to watch the Inbetweeners movie. I had a Subway foot long for lunch, which was amazing, we don't have a Subway or any other fast food chain in Guernsey for that matter! I then had some Ben&Jerrys ice cream in the cinema and popcorn. In the evening we went to the M&S in Gatwick arrivals and had a sandwich meal deal with a chocolate mousse thing, a generally woeful day for my calorie intake, but hey I was on holiday! Woke up the morning of our flight to Orlando and had a McDonalds breakfast in the morning which was a real treat, as I said earlier, no fast food in Guernsey!
The whole time in Florida my calorie consumption was off the chain, everything is so much bigger, greasier and cheaper in the good ol' US of A! I was having huge burgers, huge pizzas, huge steaks or TexMex style food every day of the holiday, of course most of it was served with fries too! I was having calorie filled and sugar laden drinks to wash all this down, as well as a beer or two most nights in the hotel room. After two weeks of eating like this I started to feel fat again, not as in bigger but my energy levels depleted, I found it difficult to get up in the mornings, started getting spots and just felt generally uncomfortable in my own skin.
When I arrived back in Guernsey the first thing I did was jump on the scales to find out how much of a set back I had had and was shocked to have put on a full stone in 16 nights worth of holiday, almost a full pound a day or around a 3500kcal overeat per day, bear in mind it was an active holiday too with hours of walking per day and swimming for a few hours every other day too! That night was the last of my holiday so I topped it all off with a nice big chinese take away, something we hadn't had locally for months.
I got back on the diet this Wednesday and am quite shocked at how quickly that stone has dropped off, well almost all of it, this evening on the scales I weighed 18st13, only 3lb more than I left Guernsey at or 11lbs lighter than I did on Tuesday evening. I've no idea why I retained so much weight over the holiday or why it dropped off so quickly after that, what I do know though is that I'm so pleased I've only added 3lbs over two weeks of USA fast food style eating, and I also had a brief reminder of how nutritionally crap food had been making me feel for the past 7 years.
An update on my situation.
I cut out as much carbs as possible, replaced cereal with bread. I exercise 3 nights a week, 45 mins on a rowing machine and some weights after. I've lost over a stone and now weight just under 16 stone. I'm now hoping to lose another stone by late August/early September.

Hi Again,
Pretty much the same story for me re: holiday weight gain.
I went to cornwall for a week with a few friends at the end of august / beginning of September.
The diet was off the table, hell i was on holiday right, i didn't snack much but my 2 main meals everyday were shocking. My breakfast was the only thing that was ok, i'm a cereal guy, even when i was at my biggest i ate weetabix for breakfast and that didn't change on holiday. My 2 main meals was eating out everyday and i pretty much went through the lot throughout the week. Steaks, Pizza's, Chips, pasties etc etc. I also drank 4-6 pints of lager a day.
In just 7 days i put on half a stone, and as rusty noob states, i felt pretty shocking by the end of the week, i felt tired / low on energy, greasy skin, even though i maintained my normal levels of hygiene by showering everyday etc. You really can't believe how such a bad diet can effect you, and i can't believe i put up with it for so many years beforehand.
I've been back for almost 2 weeks at i've lost 5 of those 7 pounds already (now 18st 10, for those not in the know i was 30st 12 at my biggest), and again as rusty noob states i can't believe it's dropped off so quickly as i haven't got fully back up to speed with regards to the amount of exercise i was doing. Before my holiday i was on the treadmill at least 4 times a week and i've only been on it 4-5 times since returning. I did instantly go back to my healthy diet the day after my return though.
It was definately a good wake up call / reminder not to slip back into my old ways.

. I've been doing spinning classes, cross trainer, exercise bikes, rowing machines and even circuit style training by running with weights, jumping over obstacles, you know that type of stuff.
. Mad doesn't cut it at the moment, i've actually put the effort in for 14 months of my life to sort myself out, granted out of the mess i got myself into, but when i need the NHS's help i can't get it. I know it's not a bottomless pit of money and we can't afford to pay for everything / anything everyone wants or needs but it still sucks, especially as i have worked for the NHS for the past 13 years lol!!!! (seriously i know that doesn't come into it)Just thought I would bump this thread up again!
Still sticking to my usual routine (gym 4 times a week, but I've not done any weight lifting for nearly 2 months now and I do a full 2 hours cardio) and keeping below a 1600 cal/day diet and when I weight myself last week I was at 11st 13, when I last posted on here I think back in late June/early July I was around 13st 4 I think.
I last weighed myself this morning and I have somehow crept up to 12st 1, but I think this may of been due to eating out both Friday & Saturday night whilst out with friends, doh!!
Just one thing that still concerns me, now and again I still get a craving sometimes during the day while at work, but mostly after dinner and that is for something like biscuits etc. Most of the time I do not give it, but I really want to beat the craving. Any ideas guys? Currently during the day I only eat cereal for breakfast, a sandwich, pack of skips & a small snack bar for lunch (there called Chewies I think, there simular to breakfast bars). Then I do not eat anything else until the evening after I get back from the gym, which will be a full cooked dinner.
Thanks all - Liam
