2012 Mac Mini

just a update on the mini.... this has consumed tons of time but getting there.

the cable arrived for 2nd drive so stripped down and put ssd into upper position and 1tb hd into its orig place.... all working great

managed to get bootcamp w7 running, though after many failed attempts i had to create the usb drive for install manually...

w7 is running very fast, and even plays world of tanks at 50fps at 1920*1200 so the hd4k graphics are not bad...

the 27" philips monitor is going back, and i have a shiny IPS Asus 27" on the way, this is higher res at 25** * something and has display port interface which is perfect for mini

will post results when new monitor lands monday

Flukester/UnworthyBean - what cable did you buy? I got a m4 256GB ssd in mine now, so might aswell use up the 1TB drive i took out :)

I bought the data doubler kit from OWC, but others seem to have bought the dual hard drive kit from ifixit.

Both look identical, just slightly different price, and depending on if they have it in stock.

Wow those are expensive. You can get the cables cheaper on eBay (still a rip though).

yep, I'm guessing being a apple part they are gonna be expensive, but I would have thought no more than £15 tops... good luck finding one that cheap in stock though :(

This'll wind you up:

Oddly enough, yes I am. Display will just switch off and show static on the screen, second display using a displayport - dvi adapter remains on though.

It hasn't done it in a whole though so I was just going to leave it for the mo.

Yeah internal speaker is fine, ordered a Thunderbolt to HDMI adapter should work better (should have kept it when i sold my Macbook Air, doh)
