---2012 Nexus Phone facts/rumours/info thread---

Meh. For me it's a waste of on-screen space when browsing etc. If it allowed the screen to extend much further towards the bottom edge of the phone then I could see the value. But invariably it does not.

Interesting that there's no GNex2 news around.

There's a fair bit of information out there actually - nothing concrete at this stage of course, but rumours are slowly coalescing.

Most places are suggesting a dual-core CPU, with a similar sized screen to the galaxy nexus. I guess Samsung are positioning it just below the GS3.

Yeah I dont think I would want to go back to having normal buttons.

What about them do you like? I'm genuinely curious, as I can't see any reason that I'd prefer them over normal buttons. For me they just seem to use up screen space for no extra benefit

I like the look of the screen with no buttons on it, I also prefer pressing the screen rather than the keys, it seems weird when you are mainly pressing the screen then move onto a button. Also no manufacturer seems to follow Googles button policy making some tasks odd to do. They also feel more modern than buttons.

Cleaner finish to the front of the phone. Almost futuristic as people who haven't used one before can't tell how to use it at first.

The on screen buttons will rotate so that they are orientated correctly in landscape use. They will also disappear once using a full screen application.

Less moving parts so therefore less things to break and fail.

Also provides the possibility of thinner bezels with 'edge to edge' screens, although we haven't seen any of the manufacturers implement this.

Everything that the above 2 have said. On screen buttons are far better overall especially compared to Samsung's way IMO. The one thing that I hate about their GS 3 and note II, a hard home button.......

It's quite interesting, as that's exactly the opposite to how I feel. I hate not having a physical home button to press, it just feels wrong to me. It's obviously just personal preference, I just seem to have a dislike for on-screen buttons .

I'm all for on-screen buttons aslong as there isn't a big bezel below it - GNex is ok - that LG above is wayy off the mark.

I also like HTC's One series layout of capacitive buttons...and when you hold the multi-task you get a menu popup.

The Galaxy Nexus is also SAMOLED HD. Sounds awful for a 2012/13 Google flagship phone though.
