2012 predictions

So why don't they take a young driver instead? Senna? Hulkenberg?

I would imagine Alonso doesn't want anyone doing a Hamilton and showing him up.

Ferrari are a 1 man team, they are very open about that. Alonso is the number 1, and I expect he is very happy with the current number 2 they have. Why change something that works well for everyone (except Massa)?

Plus they might not be able to get as many points as Massa. He's been average at best this year but at least he has the driver position you'd expect him to, i.e. ahead of the Mercedes and Renaults.

And this.

Massa has done just enough. He has kept the Ferrari where it should be (in the top 3 teams), while not out performing his number 1 team mate. It is ideal for the team to have him in.

Its just a shame for him.

Not sure how Hamilton showed him up really, Alonso was beating him until McLaren decided to mess around with Alonso but we all know that :)

Ferrari will have a young driver in 2013 as Stefano has already stated. Massa has a contract and Ferrari will honour it, then make a change, nothing to do with what Alonso wants really.

Reading the comments on The Sun, what is interesting is that many people still have faith in Hamilton.

Personally, I don't think that his high collision rate can be sorted, by a magic touch. I actually think he needs an advisor on track and on the radio throughout the race, making his decisions for him. For example, when he is behind Massa, "wait for the DRS zone to overtake". Or calm him down during the opening few laps, when Hamilton sometimes attempts to win the race. Simple things like that.

You can't train a driver to be more intelligent. By his age, he will either have "it" or he won't.

Still, a driver doesn't become a bad driver, in half a season. 9 races ago, I rated Hamilton right alongside Alonso. Hopefully, he will be able to stop colliding with other cars and finish higher up the grid. It's just that I've never seen a top driver fall apart quite in the way that Hamilton seems to have.

Are there the usual comments you see on any F1 news on a national paper, saying how boring F1 is? i.e. from those who haven't tuned in for the last few years.

I still have faith in Hamilton.

I don't.

I think Hamilton is able to expertly leverage a superior car, much in the way that Vettell has done this year. Maybe not as well - that would depend on how superior the car was to the field.

If the car was 100% the same as say Vettell's and the Red Bull, I'd be betting against Hamilton.
