2012 Weight Loss Thread

I want to get to 11st by end of June in time for my Lanzarote Holiday beginning of July, currently 13st 7lbs. I know it's going to be tough!

Down to 97.8kg for me. After having an a partial break over christmas as rowing machien broke and ate a little more at Christmas, though didn't go too far. I managaged to not really gain or lose weight from mid December to mid January.

Been back on it for the last 2 weeks and dropped a healthy 2kg. Some of that might be re-gained water weight, but I suppose that would mean I lost a little over Christmas otherwise my weight would have gone up.

Either way, 9.8kg to my first major goal and then see where I want to go from there.

Was 17.5st in September (start of the uni year) now down to 15.5st +/- a few lbs. It is purely down to training in MMA. I have dropped four inches around the waist, gone from XXL shirts to L and got a gorgeous girlfriend as a result.

My diet hasn't changed, I probably drink about the same as I used to, I think it is purely the exercise kick starting my metabolism. I feel very lethargic if I don't go to the gym or train with the guys.

My goal is to get to 185lbs (217ish atm) by the end of the academic year. If I cut out the alcohol and takeways I could probably manage that by my birthday in April.

Not a good week for me :(

It was going fairly well until the weekend, i was eating the right amount but not doing as much exercise as usual because of how cold it was.
It was my birthday on saturday so we went out for a huge curry, then had cake and more food when we got home.
This is a one-off so hopefully i can do better next week. I'm well off target now but i'm going to try hard to get back on track.

So week 4 weigh in...

Last week - 101.2kg
This week - 100.4kg

Has slowed a little this week.

I had given up wheat and bread which made me feel great and got rid of all of my IBS symptoms

As a result of this, the doctor wants to test me for Coeliac disease, and apparently I need to eat Bread for a while to ensure the test is accurate. Unfortunately Bread is bloating me something rotten. Holding on to so much water.

Have to eat it for another week before I can have my blood test, and then I can get back off of it and get back on with shedding this gut.

Had an amazing 5k run on Thursday and set a new PB of 23.51, the run before was a new PB of 24.27.

What's your calorie deficit mate? The usual guff being you shouldn't aim to drop more than 2lbs a week :)

Good point, I need to work it out(At a guess I'd say 1500 Calories in a day). I've done a few radical diets in the past, the best being the Rapid Fat Loss from Lyle Mcdonald; Actually, a few of us from the MP forum did it and got pretty decent results. I've not gone that low this time, but it's not far off.

At the moment I generally eat more calories on Workout day, then less on rest days, to balance it out. That and still on the IF scheme of things.

I'm going to start a cut on IF in a couple of weeks time, and I'll be aiming for 2000kcals on work out days, 1800 on rest days.

Current stats
Height: 6ft
Weight: 80.5kg

I wouldn't be dipping as low as 1500 unless I was happy to lose some lean mass too.

True. I'm making all calories protein based, to make sure I atleast keep to those Macro's and lifting heavy with Stronglifts. Although, I only do these diets 2 weeks at a time (recommended time), then slowly go back up.

I will try and get calorie figures tonight. :)

You're taller and weigh less than me :p

I would actually continue trying to bulk if it wasn't for the fact I've got a couple of holidays this year and vanity always gets the better of me :) Get the abs and bit of seperation in the pecs and I'll be chuffed!

Had my weekly weigh in today, not the result I'd hoped for given the amount of excercise I've put in over the week but still dropped a pound, thats 13lbs in two weeks now. Down to 269.

Week 5 Weigh in:

Starting weight beginning of January 14st 6lb
Target weight end of June 11st

Last Monday 13st 7lb
This Monday 13st 5lb

2lb lost

MFP as automatically decreased my daily calories from 1560 to 1490 :(

The one thing I'm struggling with is eating the right types of food. On MFP's calorie breakdown I'm at 58% Carbs, 27% Fat and 15% Protein. I'm guessing I need to lower carbs and up protein.

Percentage wise what should I be Looking at?

Can you give us an example of what you eat on an average day?

Here is an example of an average day of mine from last week:
48% Carbs, 17% Fat, 35% Protien

Breakfast:
2 poached eggs on wholemeal toast
Lunch:
Chicken, salad, banana
Dinner:
Homemade chilli with boiled rice
