2012 Weight Loss Thread

Can you give us an example of what you eat on an average day?

This is what I had yesterday and was left with 49 calories out of my allowed 1490.

Breakfast 249 Cal
Oat So Simple Poridge
Coffee

Lunch 485 Cal
Boiled Egg with Salad Cream Sandwich
Weight Watchers Toffee & Honeycomb Sundae

Dinner 507 Cal
Beef Stew with Vegitables & Yorkshire Pud
1 Slice of white bread (for dipping)

Snacks 200 Cal
Cadburys Highlights Chocolate Mocha
Pink & White Wafer
Thin Dairy Milk Chocolate Bar

I'm pretty addicted to sweet food like Chocolate, Biscuits and cakes but compared to what I used to eat I've made huge cuts. I really struggle with healthy food like fruit, Veg and Salads etc. to me they taste bland and never fill me up. However I do realise this is a lifestyle change and I'll really try to eat properly!

I've been getting through the day on not much food knowing that at night between 8 - 9pm I have my snacks to look forward to which normally comprises of a Cadburys Highlights drink and a Pink & White Wafer. Sometimes if I have enough calories left I'll have a small chocolate bar or 2 biscuits as well.

I realise my diet is pretty poor and needs to change!

I'm guessing I need to lower carbs and up protein.

Lunch 485 Cal
Boiled Egg with Salad Cream Sandwich
Weight Watchers Toffee & Honeycomb Sundae

You could try mixing the boiled egg and salad cream into a salad rather than a sandwich, that should help cut down the carbs a little.

Could also try having a little less oats for breakfast and mixing some nuts into it instead.

Lost 2kg's in 2012.

Well done Izi, great results.

I seem to be loosing loads from everywhere but the old spare tyre, hope it goes in time.

Well done Izi, I bet it gives some good motivation when you look at the before and after pics. Still trying to get rid of my spare tyre(s) too :p

Cheers guys. The weight around my middle has been the most stubborn - still got a lot to lose from this area.

Fantastic work Izi, you look like a different person in well under a year. Gonna take a photo when I get home, just a shame I didn't think to do this before I lost 15lb. Great for motivation and not returning to old habits :)

I really need to get my arse into gear and lose the last little bit of weight I need to lose. Lost 5st last year but now it's cold and going to the gym seems like far too much effort. Hurry up Spring :D

myfitnesspal.com

Also has a great mobile app, it's really helping me to keep track of how much i am eating.

Cheers, just got it on my phone now. Filled in the food info on site and it says im eating 1,531 Calories a day, which breaks down to:
Ca - Fa - Pr
17 - 74 - 193

I do have more carbs on Workout days (Have RecoveryXS from MP). So around 1,900 Calories on workout day.

Well guys I've hit a bit of a stumbling block. Had appendicitis over the weekend and had to get my appendix removed. Got out of hospital now but thats my exercise out of the window for a good few weeks. Bugger!

How much did your appendix weigh? Thats some easy weight loss :p

Seriously tho, diet is far more important than exercise for weight loss. It will be more difficult, but you can still lose weight without exercising by being a bit more strict with the number of calories you're eating.
