2013 Haswell Retina MacBook Pro...

I tried this a while back and it was just too fuzzy, it doesn't seem to do the same pixel double/oversampling that you get at 1680*1050.

Also having some buyers remorse, my work as change such that I actual need more then 8gb's of ram and a good GPU so my 13" is starting to struggle.

Would you guys suggest selling it (still in perfect condition) and buying a new one, I'm guessing I shouldn't take too much of a hit. Need to make a decision soon before a refresh comes out.

I think there is generally a lack of Retina ready graphics, icons, websites etc and I prefer a larger work space (which is hard on 13" monitor of any kind) so bumping the resolution seems like a good compromise. Works until I can hook up a 24" monitor at least!

Got mine today, the 2.3 GHz 15 inch. This thing is an absolute beast and the screen is awesome. I'm running it in the 1920x1200 mode and loving it! Glad I upgraded from my previous macbook 1,1 :)

Opened a couple of quite heavy pro tools projects on it and it's barely breaking a sweat. This thing is like using a desktop :)

I have only had 16Gb MBP's but maybe got a choice of swapping my 16Gb Haswell 13" for an 8Gb Haswell 15".

Anyone had any experience of the difference? I use quite a few programs at once inc parallels every now and again. Do you think the difference is very noticeable?

I tend too run 2 VMS on 8gb and it handles it ok, at times it can get a bit low on memory when I also fire up Photoshop, all my dev tools, chrome/safari/firefox but all in all it has handled it really well.

I guess it depends on what apps you use.

Thanks Fallen God, I only run one VM at the most with Safari, Email, Coda 2, Pages, Numbers etc. I run Final Cut Pro every so often but would not run it with the VM open.

I tend to have Vagrant running Ubuntu, Sublime Text, Netbeans (Xdebug is better on there), Chrome/Safari/Firefox for testing, and generally a Windows7 or XP VM. It handles it just fine, the only thing that adds too that is Photoshop as I deal with pretty big detailed PSD, mostly need to shutdown the IE VM as it starts to slow my machine down a bit.

Personally I would upgrade to 16GB just to get a bit of breathing room when I do use Photoshop, but with your usage I think 8GB is solid.

Thanks. Unfortunately I wouldn't be able to upgrade it as its a potential swap with someone I know and they already have 8Gb. Thinking about it i mainly use mine for typing in lots of different program's and if I am doing any photo or video work i tend to close other stuff down. Seems it could be a goer as i do miss the extra screen real estate with the 15".

Popped in to Apple store to have a new screen fitted on my iPhone and walked out with a new MacBook Pro 13" Retina. Great device, replaces a 15" mid 2010 model and though performance wise I notice little difference the much reduced weight and better screen with higher resolution is much nicer.
