2013 Le Mans 24 Hours

So the Lotus T128's are out... The big question is who didn't pay their bills? Given that Lotus were extremely slow to pay Judd for the Indy engines, it wouldn't surprise me if that continued with the Le Mans project. Oh, and by the T128 I mean the Lotus T128 not the Lotus T128... :)

Never mind, there's still the Rebellion Lola's pretending to be Lotus out there. :D

[edit]

Oh, it appears to be Colin Kolles who hasn't paid the bills. So former Midland and HRT team boss was tasked to run a Le Mans team. Good choice.

Only parts of the car have been removed from the track and the team have said that they are confident of running tomorrow. No remaining backup teams, and it's too late for them if there were any anyway

Lotus have never really had a good time at Le Mans, they've won class several times, but the ACO have always had a downer on them *or been scared of them*. Wobbly web wheels, number of bolts on the hubs.... Lotus should have stuck with Chapmans 'We will never race again at Le Mans!'

Official stream is a bit pants. Lovely shot of the pit lane only and a couple of French chaps waffling over it. :(

So got that streaming and radio le mans running instead of the frenchies.

Well, the 31 and 32 Lotus cars have been cleared to race by the courts. They're currently getting the bits to rebuild the 32 car back.

31 car actually made it out onto the track once another steering wheel was delivered by a supplier, those were several of the parts removed, they left some spares though so the car could be rebuilt, minus the steering wheel.

The court case was instigated by ADESS, which happens to be the company that designed the T128. It seems that Lotus ended the deal/contract and didn't pay them off.

And the #57 Ferrari has had a huge impact with the barriers. Session has been stopped and will not restart. Too much damage to the Armco to get it rebuilt in time for the session to restart.

Is anyone here going? I'm leaving on the Wednesday. Still haven't got round to packing or working out how to put the new tent up!
I was there two years ago, it's fantastic. You really need to do the whole weekend - most of it is spent getting merry and looking at all the lovely cars people brought with them. I know there's no way I would part my Lotus/Corvette/Aston in the camping sites!Perhaps one of my strongest memories was actually being in a 7 seater Renault doing 180km/h on the French A10 (I wasn't driving) as this Corvette C6 rips past - he must've been doing a good 250km/h.

Then there's the race itself! Two years ago was pretty good, I think everyone got a shock when McNish hit the barriers though, it looked fairly nasty from where I was standing.

Not going this year because of work, but if you see a Lexus LS V8 luxobarge with a whole bunch of names on it... that's my mates. :)

No8 Toyota stopped on the Mulsanne on his outlap.
Engine is still running, but doesn't seem to have any drive.

Can't say I like the centre lights on the Aston's. Makes it look like it has buck teeth. :D

Session will not restart.

All cars are now in Parc Ferme conditions now until tomorrow morning.

That'll annoy Toyota who wanted the data from the No8 car that stopped on track.

[edit]

Apparently the 2nd impact in the same area so the race director can't say it's safe with only a quick repair. Won't take the chance so ended the session early.

I'm going through the 2011 thread. Was this a hooky feed or a legit one?

Justin.tv.... Kind of as hooky as it gets but normally the guy who does the lemans each year is fairly reliable.

Just signed up to the eurosport player, between that and any other source I can find iam hopeful of catching it all.

Came across this one to, from pistonheads (as the old man doesn't have Eurosport)

Excellent - glad you found that one. I saw it mentioned somewhere a few weeks ago but couldn't for the life of me remember what the feed was called :p

I think it could be a good one to keep an eye on, because I got the impression on the site I read about it is that it's a new live tv thing that youtube are trying out. I could be wrong on that though. Otherwise, I think it was them who were quite good at getting clips of the incidents uploaded quite quickly.

Session will not restart.

What's parc fermé? I had a quick scoot through but it just brought up a load of Le Mans related sites called parcfermé :p

After each session, all cars go independently here via the pit lane where they get scrutineered before being allowed back to their respective garages.

The No8 Toyota was allowed 1 team engineer to assist getting the car off the low loader, as the marshall's couldn't figure out how to do it last night.
