*** 2013 Powerlifting Totals - NEW ***

Hah cheers, I did try 125 but bailed.

Grunts.....im a silent lifter :D

attempted 140kg 5 times and just couldn't get low enough.. need to give 135 a go! nice work man :) hows that bench press coming along? I still struggle with it no matter what I try.. faster/controlled reps etc don't seem to help! probably need to adjust my routine..

what would a good bench press routine be? currently on 5x5 but it just doesn't work for me, what else could I try?

Hoping my Sqauts improve in the next few months :)

Bench press is non existant for me, I haven't touched flat bench for over a month now and I'm not intending to, my shoulder can't take the strain for some reason so it's DB incline only for me, even that is touch and go as to whether or not it aggravates it.

Why is 5x5 not working? How is it failing? :)

its working fine for deads, bent over rows, squats etc I'm adding weight and getting stronger for sure but the routine simply does NOTHING bench press wise for me.. its as if my body refuses to get stronger at that part and trust me I'm farting it out as much as I can! jeez I nearly **** my self time I went for 70kg pb :o

Post up in the rats thread or your log, what you're doing currently for working sets, where you are failing, how long you have been there for.

You might just need to attack it differently.

Weighted dips, generally speaking, will aid a strong bench.

Periodisation and progressive load IMO are two of the most important factors for increasing a lift effectively and as quickly as possible.

Bench was the first thing that I stalled on with 5x5 (well OHP was first actually, but that's obvious...). Have you de-loaded several times? Have you tried micro-loading with really small (0.5kg) plates?

Try more volume. Do 5x5 Bench every session - it worked for me. Or if you get really bored try a different routine - 5/3/1 has worked well for me recently.

To be fair I can't see myself progressing on the other lifts any time soon. Even my 140kg squats for 6 rep sets doesn't raise my projected 1RM above my current 1RM as far as I know. And I've been slacking on deads big time, doing them today for the first time in ages. Keep wanting to try 200 but when I get to 180 warm up, I think Cot Dayum that heavy bish.
