Serious question, everyone has been moaning and whining about house prices for well over a decade. The ONLY way to resolve it is for prices to come down by a crash. And there's no way to do that without harming people on Mortgages.

So i'd like a real world solution from the left that would do this without harming said people. The only one I can think of is somehow freezing the prices in the housing market for 20years while inflation naturally overtakes.

There's no way to correct the market without people going into negative equity and reposessions.

Plateauing prices is the only safe thing to do. Falling prices causes economic problems on their own.

It's a market and the price increases with demand. The only way to change that is to increase supply to satisfy demand, and the best way for a government to do that is by reintroducing local council owned property that is offered to the rental market. It will kill the private landlords ability to hold the market to ransom, which in turn will increase supply for sale as the liquidate their assets.

What do you think the BoE baling out your pension fund to the tune of £65 billion was, it may not directly be a government handout but it's still going to be funded by normal people, via higher interest rates.

I think this says it all about how the current Tory Party is not being led by the Tory Party.

Conservative supporters just blindly supporting the budget because it's the Tory Party are sorely misguided.
