Lots of people mistakenly think they would like the UK as a Singapore style tax haven because they assume they would end being one of the top people and do very well out of it. Sadly a lot of those people will be wrong and find themselves in the other group.

I saw an article the other day about how the Singapore middle class are feeling the CoL pressure and the example given was a business owner whose monthly wage was three times the average annual wage in the country and he was complaining that he was struggling with increased costs and the Govt needed to do something to help him out.
They want Singapore's authoritarianism, no way anyone high up in our society doesn't know how Singapore functions.

What makes you think he won't be in the 20%? Everything he posts gives off the smell of an entitled person who's very much part of the establishment. He probably even owns slaves.
He's a car mechanic from Shropshire, I suppose he could be a 1%er but I doubt it. He just likes doffing his cap to his betters.

I am truly unsurprised at that polling. This is what arrogance gets you in this country.

Why are you surprised, in light of current events I'm surprised it's not bigger.

There is a car mechanic then there is a car mechanic who owns acres of land. How many acres do you own @Chris Wilson ?

I am tempted to say as far as the eye can see, like a farmer friend does, but that would be a gross exaggeration. Land is cheap out here, not enough for either of us to get excited about I'm afraid :)
