You fools, I think you deliberately misinterpreted what was said in the mini budget - there was no specific date given plus fingers were crossed behind backs :D

Jesus though, it was a mess last week and now it’s an even bigger mess. How on earth?

Listening to the floundering of the Chancellor and others embarrassing.

The Lady in not for not u-turning.

This was a sleight of hand. The reduction in top rate was announced in advance (as is usual), so high earners deferred income to the next tax year: hence lower tax take at the higher rate when comparing year on year

We'll see the same effect this time, and the Tories will use the same trick to make their claims.

Spot on. First thing we got from our accountants was advice to reduce dividends paid this year and put them all through post 6th April and just use loans from the company to directors to keep their income at the same level this year.

Where does that leave the forum Tory bots now.....Liz is really causing them issues.

I would be fascinated to hear. In particular the contractors (sorry entrepreneurs) convinced that this, corp tax and IR35 changes (nothing financial there) would save them 10s of K. PAYE 45%’er champagne socialist here saying it was the only move from the flailing corpse of a government

Let's see how the markets react this morning. The markets love uncertainty.

Fair play to them for scrapping it though. I'll give them that.

Not much upside for the markets. A drop in the ocean as far as the cost of this mini budget goes.

And, yeah, it doesn't inspire trust and confidence in the UK government.
