Britain's fertility rate is dropping to about 1.5 (replacement rate is 2.1), and he thinks fewer people should have kids and we shouldn't top up with immigration.

I stand by my assertion.

If we have a smaller population then we wouldn't need as many unskilled workers within various roles.

He lied about the OBR having a draft report, he's almost certainly lying about being warned as well....

Gerard Lyons, an economist who has given advice to the Liz Truss team, has said Kwasi Kwarteng was wrong to say that he was not warned that unfunded tax cuts would alarm the financial markets.

In his Today interview Kwarteng said he could not “remember” being warned by Lyons that the markets would not tolerate unfunded tax cuts. But Lyons told PA Media:

Well that’s incorrect. I was very clear.

I'd love to know, what do you consider to be unskilled work?

Public toilet cleaning? Street cleaning? Do bin men count, know how to operate the bin lorry? Is a postman out delivering classed as unskilled, driving about then walking and delivering letters and parcels? Van drivers/couriers? Supermarket home deliveries? Are train drivers unskilled? Sitting in the engine observing the lights, lights in the cabin/signals, working a lever even though they're getting quite nice wages. Or bus drivers? Granted they have a lot of responsibility for the safety for who is onboard.

Really. If he didn't think it would alarm the markets hes a dire chancellor (tick) or a liar (tick).
Either way he should be out of the job.

Take your pick from
-fraudulent
-incompetent
-liar

Probably all 3.

Personally I would like to see:

Increase tax free limit to 20k for all
Increase 20% rate to 60k
40% for everything else.
National insurance at 12% for all i.e get rid of the 2% band.
Dividend rates the same as income tax.
Corporation tax bands at 20% and 40% based on group profitability.

I imagine it would be close to break even.

You could add those in hospitality such as waiters, shop & bar staff.

Who is going to pay for your retirement? The world is like a Ponzi scheme, you need more of the younger generation to pay for you.

The wheels are coming off the ponzi scheme.

Life is getting more expensive. People are having less kids. Even those who want them.
Public services/state will start to wither. Especially pensions.

Its inevitable. We need to find a way to cope with a top heavy population. It will certainly mean working ever longer.
And with the NHS eventually falling away I'm guessing if you can't pay you'll just die.

That's why it won't work because you can't simply continue to grow populations, its unstainable.
Except you definitely can when you build the infrastructure for it.

The working population will not accept having to maintain the burden of a growing out-of-work geriatric class who constantly votes against the interest of the country without new blood to balance the demographic equation.

Except more jobs will be replaced by machines that don't pay tax hence we don't need an abundance of unskilled workers, we'll have enough of our own.

We haven't solved the worlds climate crisis as it is with our existing population so adding to it is only going to cause millions more to die when the planet heats up to such levels that agriculture becomes impossible in certain regions and flooding too makes parts of the world uninhabitable. There are going to be mass migration challenges around this too when huge numbers try to relocate. Other countries will not be able to take them in as they won't be able to provide for such numbers.
