Hugh Laurie has mocked Tory leadership candidate Liz Truss for a since-deleted tweet in which she assured her supporters that she would “hit the ground”.

“Hit the ground? Hit the ground with a team of advisers who can’t understand the meaning of the words they’ve written, or why the word ‘running’ (if you insist on adopting pathetic US tufspeak) is a blindingly stupid omission?” he tweeted. “****”

Comedian Jason Mansford also chimed in, writing: “We’ve already ‘hit the ground’ you vapid idiot! We’ve hit the ground over and over with you and your selfish and greedy friends! Did you mean ‘hit the ground running’? Good god! These people are in charge.”

Whats the plan? Crush asset prices, have some normality in the cost of money, wash out crowded GBP traders, spur real economy money rather than QE and ultra low interest rates (lol)?

Monetary policy is so last year

No doubt you were in favour of the energy subsidies, which will cost far more and only last for 6 months

4/5% Gilts are looking very nice though

Ah man. Seriously?

Housing affordability is going to plummet, time for the government to prop minimum prices and pay the extra if needed. House prices to be locked at 10% a year rise. We need stability.

It's pretty obvious that the morons who hounded him out of office didn't consider who would replace him, enjoy.
It's pretty obvious that if this is what Conservative MPs and Conservative party members consider to be the best choice for PM there's something deeply wrong with both of them, if they looked at Truss and thought yea she's the best choice then what would would they consider worse.

If you keep going from bad to worse there comes a time you have to ask if the whole barrel is rotten.

Sure, I'll vote for the better alternative instead, oh wait

So Kwasi's statement today can be summed up as :

So that budget we announced Friday that went down like a turd sandwich, well, errr, give me a couple of months and I'll get my calculator out and try to figure out how the hell we're going to pay for it. Please stop selling the pound and gilts, pretty please.
