2023 Track Day Thread

I'm planning on Llandow in Feb with Engine Tuner. They're offering a club of sorts for track days etc.

Depends on the weather though as Impreza isn't undersealed and Evo will be in bits (again) :)

Impreza will have Alcons on after I completely cooked the OE brakes at Castle Coombe :D
I'm booked on with two other 2015+ WRX STi group members. I'm bringing the bug STi though.

Bit late to the thread but finally sorting stuff out.

Donington GP - 19/4 - LoT
Castle Combe - 25/5 - SCC
Spa - 3/7 - LoT

Hope to do Oulton Park at some point but not found a good date/organiser combo yet.

I’ve heard classicline and manning are quoting for track policies again so need to try them soon. Also need new front tyres and brake fluid!

Week to go until Donny, car is nearly done. Needs full alignment and a check over after a road test around the estate.. Unfortunately I wont be able to check anything until I am on the track

You’ll love it! Nee surface is brilliant.

I was not filming but my mate in his Exige did a 1:14.8 lap on national circuit on five year old Avon ZZR tyres and the track had been treated reducing grip further. Was a great day for the lighter cars.

Was good fun, he was quicker than me but I was still very happy to take the 992 and 991 GT3’s on the day though even on a bone dry circuit my fronts never got hot, just warm so was fighting a little understeer, think I was doing 1:16-1:17 laps.

Going to be taking the 600 LT in future once I get a spare set of wheels as want to try a set of AR1’s as I know the 600 will be naughty fast at Donington.

Had a mixed day at Donington yesterday, Audi TTCR car, has mega mega speed, but unfortunately the brakes are utter utter rubbish. I've spoken to the people developing the car for the series and there needs to be a fix ASAP. 3 laps and they were literally done! Times around the 1:20 mark, running the Nankang tyre with a safe suspension setup to get used to the car.

The fun cup car however, was literally one of the best things I have ever taken around a track! The grip is out of this world! They are a 1.8, 8valve VW engine on a single carb, 130hp with a SADEV paddleshift box. I managed a 1.24.4, more in the tank, but not my car to damage, especially with a £1500 excess!

I'm officially coining Llandow "The Big Curborough" :D

Great day. Started soaking and foggy, and progressively got more dry and the track got faster. Helped build the confidence throughout the day.

Also helped that there was barely anyone booked on. Had so much track time when no one else was out there!

Great to see you again too @EddScott - if we keep meeting at track days I won't complain! :p

I do quite like Llandow, been there both for a trackday and a sprint and it's good fun in the MX-5, feels much more suited to a small/'light' car than most other tracks :)

Little 60 second clip here before I finish clipping a longer video together:

Got a few days booked now:
March 31st @ Snetterton (track day)
April 3rd @ Brands Hatch (track day)
April 14th @ Silverstone (test day, then racing on 16th!)

Preseason test day booked at Blyton on 16th April (Trackday in morning, sprint in afternoon) and tyres bought this week.

Got next week off work to put some serious hours in on the car, hoping I’ll get fairly close to trying to start it.
