2080ti cards failing ?

My 2080 Ti is DOA - I get a flash of a display at POST for a split second then the signal to the display port seems to terminate / fail and the monitor screen goes black / into power save mode and says no signal detected. My system throws up a bunch of ASUS Q-Codes on the motherboard LED and either hangs or reboots with different Q-Codes...

Am so mad right now. Gonna try to get some sleep and put my old card back in tomorrow.

Draining my loop and cutting new tubes (soft) is a hassle.

Do I call Nvidia and ask about whether or not I voided my warranty by installing a Waterblock, or just put the Nvidia Heatsink assembly back on and say nothing to them other than I want a refund?

BTW I've been watercooling systems for years and never had this happen to me before, I'm quite happy I didn't nuke the card at any stage.

Brilliant, just brilliant...

Did you not test the card with stock cooler first ?

Fit some quick disconnects in your loop and changing GPUs becomes very easy.

No Sir... In my excitement and eagerness etc I just installed the waterblock and no sooner had I done that when I read the news about the 2080 Ti failure rate, felt sick put the card in my loop and voila... DOA

Say nothing, send it back. And learn from your mistake as I did many years ago in exactly the same situation.

Mine's been on air for a couple of weeks and that's how long i'd test a card for before putting a block on it - it's a job for this weekend. Best of luck with the RMA - I wouldn't worry about the disassembly as long as it's put together without any obvious damage I suspect nVid will just test it and put it in the recycle bin.

Gamer Nexus has asked on Reddit for borked 2080ti's to be sent to him for testing before RMA to see what is happening with these units. Should be interesting to see the results, if he can get any volunteers.

That's a great idea. I hope he gets a few sent to him, will be very interesting to see what he finds.

I'm on my second 2080ti FE. First one had a loud screeching sound from a fan that constantly gave me headaches. My replacement came roughly 3 days after reporting it to Nvidia. My second one is running OK so far, I have it constantly oc'ed at +100mhz for over a week and no issues. Fingers crossed.

I'm hoping the superior cooling of the STRIX 2080 Ti prevents this being an issue for me running at 125% power target / 1950mhz memory...
