The Better card is the 8800 GTS

Speed
power usage
noise
heat

ATI have screwed this release up.

Be smart and get the better 8800

I thought you normally base your cards on 3D Mark scores?, the HD2900XT absoloutly trounces the GTS/GTX in 3D Mark ;)

Not sure what hes saying think he means he got a gts to oc to the same
score as a gtx. Tbh dosen't mean a thing as a gtx then can oc much higher
and so can the hd2900xt in 3dmark so his logic if thats what he means is
pretty much flawed.

Will, this 2900 is yours whenever you want to swap your GTS, I know the performance of both cards, if you really like this card for whatever reason whether its future proofing, ATI driver support or CCC design, Vista or whatever
you know where I am. :)

Aye I am still thinking about it, I am amazed I managed to sleep last night , I think the drivers for the HD2900XT next week should determin if I want it.

There was a review are [H]forums or there website and the HD2900XT was around a couple of frames lower than the GTS 320/640.

Anyway, yea I would like Easy to show some benchmarks.

I am aware that some benchmarks have been showing the HD2900XT to come close to a GTX, but in what games? I need some benchmarks here, I want to know what games its slower than the GTS in and what games its faster than a GTS and closer to a GTX in.

If TDU is faster on the HD2900XT then I'm preety much happy for the moment :), but I run at 16xAA/AF, can live with 8xAA/AF, no lower than 4x tho.

Also, if anyone would like to swap cards for a week (HD 2900XT for a 8800GTS ACS3 KO 640mb) I would love to do that, hopefully someone is in the similar position as me, is the 2900 better or worse than the GTS? then we could find out properly.

hey if the drivers are that good, I'd be a fool not to keep it but somehow I can't see a huge improvement tbh, I will say that the X2900XT is better than the GTS on TDU by about 10%, so you should be happy there but as you saw
NFS Carbon was similar but on source engine games the GTS trounces the 2900 at full settings.

When you get it all do tell us your results :D

Also if anyone on the forum has a HD2900XT in a rig with similar CPU (Athlon 64 3700+ single core ' 2.8ghz) to mine, it would be nice if you could post you game experiences and performance.

In July I will be upgrading to a quad core (Q6600), 2gb ram and one of the P5NESLi mobos, so I hope my performance will be good then aswell. If I have enough cash at the time I might even buy an 8800GTS 640mb for very cheap for my amd 64 rig if I have a HD2900XT but then.

Its my birthday today and I was hoping by my birthday I would be sitting here with a brand new upgrade :( , but I'm still with my retro single core athlong setup :p

Can we swap for a week? :D Then if I like the HD2900XT we dont need to swap back? :D
