Matt - Why not just post a brief outline of the following...
What software you use?
What hardware?
How do you know what values to change on what impact this will have over the whole range of the engines operation?
How you monitor the results/improvements?
How you ensure it is 'safe' for the engine?
Mapping is not an easy thing to do well, even with fully functioning and incredibly flexible aftermarket ECUs.... Its an easy thing to get wrong if you don't know what you're doing, hell enough so called competent tuners manage it from time to time. Hence all the questions and scepticism...!
because its a complete blag.
a) its going to be ecu/car specific software wise
b) then explaining what has to be monitored. whats good and whats bad. why you log them, how long for, what conditions you should be logging them under, EXCEPTIONS to the rules. just learn about engines yourselves.
c) what parameters to change (and where in terms of rpm/load) and why you change them and what benefits to expect.
d) im not a teacher, i do far too much training day to day at work as it is, i dont want to start running classes on what results are plausible figures and what are not, what youre aiming for with the software im familiar with, when half the readers wont ever own that car and would never go ahead with those changes anyway.
in any case, it has all been discussed to death on the audi/vw boards anyway.... even that gets boring with page after page of knock sensor "noise", knock sensor voltage and what actually gets interpreted by the ecu before it decided to "correct" the ignition for you.
