£2k got me..

200+ is prob a no go.. 190-195 is par for the course from everything I've read for the ko3 (mine has the ko3 also), but you can make a pretty wide torque band, just the top BHP aint ever gonna go over 195 it seems, with ease anyway.

I dunno if I should do much more to mine, currently:

- 1.8 20v turbocharged AGU engine, KO3 turbo
- APR stage 1 remap done for 95 ron fuel
- NGK Platinum spark plugs
- Pipercross hi-flow performance panel air filter
- G60/VR6 single mass flywheel and clutch conversion
- Custom "Stealth" hidden cat-back exhaust

I was thinking new TIP, 007p recirc valve, 3" downpipe and 200 cell sports cat, but dunno if it'd be worth the cash.

230bhp on a ko3s with front mount, downpipe, sports cat, TIP, 007p is easy, it'll probably be even higher than 230... from what I read anyway :P

Matt I thought your car would sit lower than that :)

EDIT a mate of mine has a stage 2 revo mapped Golf, ko3s, some other bits about 240bhp (he claims) and 60+ he's way quicker...

But, I can still get to 60 before him :) Because my car doesn't go down the street with constant wheelspin. I doubt mines above 190BHP but the traction is solid, no wheelspin in 2nd at all in the dry. Very, very minimal in wet, depending on surface, often none at all.

I'd say mine pulls to 100 in approx 18ish seconds which seems ok, would estimate 60 in low 7 seconds.

The 180bhp is the Anniversary model which among other things had a bodykit (front/rear valance, skirts + spoiler) and a 6 speed manual vs the 5 speed in the regular 150bhp model. I expect that's where most of the extra weight comes from (which is also only 50KG going by parkers figures, which is what I used to make the first comparison).

The 180 isn't just in the anni.

In my experience adding more power to a car like this doesn't automatically drop to 0-60 by huge amounts, by adding another 50bhp you might remove 0.5 to 1 second from the stock factory time.

Reason being is you still have the stock cars gearing and 0-30 you will be oem traction limited.

The big difference that adding more power has is it gives you extra overtaking potential, my car doesn't feel "that much" quicker to 60 but 30 - 100 is night and day faster than stock.

Calling BS on your ridiculous claims about your £2k Golf in a thread about your £2k Golf is not derailing. It's about as on-topic as it gets.

and in your infinite wisdom, how do you propose the claims are verified? if you actually read my posts, ive not claimed xBHP or ySeconds to 60 anyway.

sticking the car on a RR wont achieve much, if anything. the 0-60 time, i think vagcom may be able to get close to accurate (road speed vs time) but again, that doesnt factor in slip and im not going to hire will's datron for an hour either!

195-200bhp. 2.5% difference. i dont think dynos would be able to accurately measure the difference anyway. i just think that the internet myths about "x being the limit of y component" is stupid, given how my car compares to other cars. a couple weeks ago, a friend's civic r was made to look pretty stupid against the golf, i was wondering at one point if it was a type S etc.

as for your car. see if you can get the map changed to suit 98ron. that ought to make a good difference and the ecu has built in knock protection if you do have to use 95ron... and also just dont pin it everywhere if youre on the wrong fuel.

as for the TIP. ive not come across anyone be able to prove gains with that at all so mines not been touched

if i were to make any further big changes to mine it would be a hybrid ko3s and aim for beyond 250 :P

I was thinking about a re-remap :D but fuel prices going up and all that, I don't gun it much anyway... I really am tempted with the TIP and recirc valve at least. It's running well, mines on 141k, engine is a peach no problems at all... so don't wanna mess too much as it's my daily driver for to and from work also.

Your car sounds interesting though Matt if you're whooping CTR's, I have to say I'd expect it go down the strip quicker than 15s though :) I have some mates with CTR's, some can drive, some can't, and the cars are all similar spec yet some seem a LOT quicker than others lol. I hate the fact you have to be in the zone all the time to get them to move.

Nope it's in some later (last of the line if you like) MK4 GTI's with the 6 speed box, just no Anni kit nor interior :)

Nothing fancy about it really, just has a ko3s, as did the AUM's etc from about 2000 onwards. They tune just as well as eachother, as would my old AGU with the ko3s, but with less sensors to go boom and I have cable throttle for I am l33t lol.

filled up eariler today. 325 miles needed 42-43 litres. 160 miles motorway ish, the rest was "combined", netted just under 34mpg which given that the car is given stick nearly all the time, im well impressed

not a lot can be done about fuel prices unless you change your car. mine feels like crap on 95ron, the difference in cost per tank is a couple quid (not sure on impact on mpg though), the biggest issue is making sure you can find a decent station thats at a decent price.

as for the civic, the last one was on xmas eve, mine was three up his two up, from a standing start his was even worse off which suprised me more given the weight issue. by the top of 2nd gear his was about half a car length behind

not sure what 1/4 times a civic should be getting but they sound great, even the gf commented on that

as in software, hardware, monitoring, testing. there is a lot to it to make it "safe"

Why wont you tell anyone how you map your car?

Loads of people have asked you, most of which are other 1.8T owners interested in doing the same. You always avoid the issue.

Why?
