*** 2nd March - Apple Event - Official Thread ***

yes but you don't have your monitor as close to your face as you do your ipad do you?! no, you don't.... it's the end experience that matters. the reality is that when you watch a movie or look at an image on the ipad it doesn't look as good as it does on a monitor or retina. simple. technical aspects aside.

and there's no need to be so rude.

If you can see a 0.19mm pixel from more then 20cm's away you must have absolutely amazing eye site.

Expected it to have a higher resolution screen when you think the I4 has a 3.5 inch screen at 640x960, going to a 9.7 inch display 1024x768 isn't a great leap.

just HOW CLOSE do you have it?! You are just playing daft - the ipad screen is said to be comparing quite favourably to all other tablet screens.... it's as good as most monitors. What you are looking for is not feasible at this time.

To all those who are whinging, it's an Apple forum, of course some folk will be very pro-Apple doh! If don't like the offering don't buy it! Why don't you go and build something and see if you can do better instead of complaining.

Dont get the cover - surely the part that will stand it up (looks like its the second segment from the top) will normally be in contact with the screen - not exactly a great compromise if theres potential to have crap collected by the stand then in contact with the glass

EDIT: Also what if I wanted to prop it up in portrait mode? Dno why I would tbh (large amount of typing or maybe reading)...

ps3ud0

Unfortunate but it's just a slightly faster case of blah... Great big phone... iPad is not going to be revolutionary untill it's got an OS designed specifically for a tablet format - Hardware = Gorgeous, UI=Gorgeous, OS = limited, lacklustre and restrictive. It doesn't matter that it's faster or that it has HDMI out or that it's thinner, it's still fundamentally the same as the first tablet - Beautiful hardware, seriously average OS.

Very dissappointed.

Well looks nice, but still doesn;t solve the os problem for me. Need more info on OS5, IP5, IP3 and what Amazon are planning for both Lovefilm and android.

Overall I prefer apple experience. But no Flash is a major concern, but Itunes offers great movies at reasonable price and in "HD". On the other hand Android is less attractive as an OS but has flash so can run lovefilm streaming service, but as of yet no movie distribution and when it appears what will it be like.
I also miss a lot of qaulity apps on apple I just can't get on android and the stability..

Aggghhhh so annoying what do I do.

maybe i do. i don't know. it's my job to be staring at pixels all day long. all i know is that my work looks noticeably less sharp and a little more fuzzy on ipad than it does on retina or on a monitor. that's simply down to the resolution and nothing else.

and for the record it's not just me showing my work to my clients on the ipad, it's more my clients looking at my work on their own ipads and me noticing that it doesn't look as good as it ought to with a decent resolution. I think full HD would probably do the trick. doesn't even need to be retina, really.

Oh do shut up. It's an Apple forum, but that doesn't mean that the opinions of anyone that is critical of glorious leaders offerings are any less relevant of your own.

Same thing I'm doing - sitting tight to see the trend on the Android tablets, see how many devs pick up a specific type of hardware, buy it, root it, install custom ROM and enjoy it the way I want... I get the need to spend your pennies but the smart bet is waiting to see how the initial market pans out. XDA will show the way.
