£3,000 fine for barking dog owners

Your talking about killing someone’s pet for burying its poop. You can’t control where a cat goes when you let them out. They are still a wild animal at heart. The idea that killing someone’s pet is even an option is what I find disturbing.

Why? We kill millions of animals everyday for the pleasure of eating meat, by comparison killing a "wild animal at heart" that causes a disturbance to someone elses property is nothing!

Because it is someone pet. Someone loves that animal. I don't care if it's a cat or a dog, it is someones pet and killing it is just sick. Killing animals for food is completely different.

Are you asking if it's OK to kill someone's pet as long as you eat it?
Actually, that seemed to be Colonel_Klinck's suggestion.

Personally, I believe that if in the 21st Century, in a supposedly civilised, crowded country, people cannot manage / control their dog's anti-social behaviour, they should not be allowed to keep a dog.

Endless barking while others are trying to sleep or relax and allowing dogs to foul public spaces seems to me to characterise a failure to cope with dog ownership.

I think killing animals for the pleasure of eating meat is ethically worse than killing an animal because it's interfering with property and/or spreading disease.

Spreading disease? Get a grip ffs. Unless you are a pregnant woman cat **** posses no health threat, well unless you start spreading it all over your body and eating it, in which case you deserve to get ill. People don't kill for the "pleasure" of eating meat, they eat meat because we are omnivores.

There are many cases of serious illnesses due to inadvertent contact with cat faeces in children. Eating meat is completely unnecessary for humans in modern society, it's not done out of necessity ergo it's done out of culinary preference and is ethically worse than killing pests. You can't seriously get all up in arms about someone killing a cat that is being a pest when millions of animals are being killed everyday for meat, leather, fur and other luxuries.

Right so you have a problem with animals being killed for meat, remembering that without the meat industry there wouldn't be those animals in the first place other than at farm parks ect. But someone killing a persons pet is fine. What a strange moral universe you inhabit.

I have a problem with animals being killed for no reason. So bull fighting, dog fighting, **** fighting etc are all abhorrent to me. I worked on a dairy farm from age 12 -17 weekends and holidays so I have a decent understanding of the farming/meat industry. Should animal welfare standards be higher, absolutely. Nothing you say will convince me that killing someones pet because they bury their poo in soil is acceptable. In fact I'd go as far as to say they are pretty heartless *****!

Err yes it does. You can catch toxoplasmosis (parasite) from cat waste and it can be serious. Also nothing will feed on cat poop because it's toxic and they aren't a native species, so it will start growing all kinds of deadly fungus and bacteria when left.

I don't see why people should have to face risks from it in their own garden, because some other people want a pet.

I never said I had a problem with animals being killed for meat, I said that it is relatively worse than killing an animal for being a pest. Cats frequently do not bury their faeces, in fact I don't think I've ever seen them do this.

I have no objections to people keeping their pets under control, or the requirement thereof.

I do think that deliberately killing someone's pet is even more antisocial than the examples thus far of "out-of-control" pet owners.

Esp when we know there are some sickos here who would enjoy killing the animal and would do it as a first resort rather than a last resort.

I'm fully aware of toxoplasmosis which is why I mentioned pregnant women. Unless you are pregnant or immunosuppressed it posses no danger. Its estimated half the population of the world is infected but how many people do you know who have suffered health issues as a result? I'm 48 and have had cats and dogs since I was born and no one in my family has ever suffered any effect, no one I know has suffered any effects to my knowledge.

Thats because all your cats turds are in your neighbours gardens.

Yet many people do catch it and get very ill, especially those with weakened immune systems.

Anyway, if you want to make cats in your garden funny plant some catnip plants. All the neighborhood cats will literally be high 24/7. :p
