3-4 Beers a Night.. Damaging?

The body is tolerant to alcohol so if you drink every night your body will need more alcohol for the same effect that it gives you. In you continue that way in ten years you will be drinking each evening an amount of alcohol that would make most people completely drunk but you will just feel slightly tipsy and require more. This will continue until you become an alcoholic. Alcoholism is a disease and if you feel you are going down that route, seek help NOW.

see now, I could stop drinking I guess...

But if I goto a pub...what do I drink? I don't really like coke, or Lemonade, and you can't really go to a pub, and just drink water, especialy tap water.

And to be fair, most alcoholic drinks cost less than non alcoholic drinks...=/

if you were going without alcohol why would you go to the pub? it would be like sitting a fat kid outside a sweet shop
there are other ways to socialize with out involving alcohol or the pub

but its what most consider the norm

Unless it affects you adversely or you find that you cannot function without drinking then I'm sure you can judge yourself what is an acceptable amount for you to consume of an evening.

I now open myself to the flames as I drink 3-4 beers a night along with 3-4 glasses of wine.

Oh, and I smoke...

I have no problem with this, I am healthy and able to function well at all times. No I do not drive and if/when I do get a licence then I will obviously change my drinking habits.

This is my life and this is how I choose to live it.

Jeez.. I'm with fox on that one :o

4 cans a night seems excessive to me aswell :(

But, its your life not mine so I will kindly stfu :p

I used to drink, and still enjoy the odd pint (once every 4 months mebe?) but I can do without the stuff just fine

I thought I was healthy in that I felt healthy and had no reason to think otherwise, I've since recently realised that feeling healthy and being healthy are 2 different things. I had high BMI, overweight, high cholesterol and high body fat % to name a few, all of which surprised me. Def worth bearing in mind.

Its not difficult to drink 4 cans though. I normally go to bed at 12/1am.. and i would drink my cans from about 8pm.

So 4 cans over 4-5hrs is just a slow pace. I dont chug them down.

I guess its unnatural to drink so often though

My mates wifes brother supposedly sits on his PC all day and night and drinks 8 cans and a bottle of win EVERY night.

Hes about 30. I think its defo something that he needs to get ontop of otherwise I reckon something adverse is gonna happen to him!

I used to drink a hell of a lot years ago and im not exactly big built. You do get used to it and then you need more so it has the desired effect.

You dont notice until you decide to stop which I did some years ago and now I can only manage a couple pints if that. Im virtually a tee-totaler.

My brother in law drinks quite a lot, not as much as he used to but still knocks back a fair few jars.

I normally have 3-5 cans of Carlsberg(3.8%) a night, like Hedge above these are taken over a six to seven hour period.
I do not consider this a problem or do i consider myself an alcoholic, far from it.

I'm in the same boat as you, been drinking 3/4 cans of beer every night for about the last year, I work evenings, get in around 1am, go to bed at about 8am, so I drink them pretty slowly, although I have been starting to think recently that having them every night isn't such a good idea, I'm not sure really.

I'm 6' tall, weigh about 11-12 stone, can run 100 metres without getting too out of breath...

I know that I could be healthier, but I don't feel any pressing need to...

A night out on the town for me:

5 pints strongbow, 1250 cals
2 double vodka redbull 400 cals
Double JD coke 200 cals

A pizza or chips+meat or some other complete junk food 1000-1500cals
Total: 2850-3350 cals

I am tall and therefore probs eat 2500-3000 cals a day normally, but adding this drinking in often would make you one fat ****. Luckily I do NOT do this very often (8-12 times a year)
Here I am just looking at the cals issues, let alone alcohol damages if I started adding a few cans a night. The thread says 3-4 cans a night. That is adding 600-800 cals a DAY on to your intake. Deffo a big impact on your weight.
