30-70 thread

i dont think youl even get any doing it within 2 seconds to be honest , looking at some chart there for stock bikes and 60-80 is taking around 3 seconds

weird considering the quarter mile times

You won't have the initial momentum at 30mph if you've been going from a stand still. If you've already done 0-30 the car/bike will have crap loads of momentum to push it forward even quicker.

There is no such thing as acceleration momentum

I did some but had to hold the camera myself and I have to change gear half way through so Im not going to bother posting them as they are crap times, well IMO anyway, as I had to hold the cam myself and change gear at the same time. Will try and do another in daylight and when its not wet. About 5.3 secs 30-70 on my speedo was what I just got.

Well i did genuinely try !!!

Is it just me or is it downright dangerous to hold the mobile with right hand while changing gear @ 60 with left and having no hands on the wheel briefly while accelerating when the tracking/tyres on your car hasn't been re-balanced since 1907! It was fun trying and i'm glad to still be alive! :p

i held the phone and the wheel quite comfortably with my right hand?

I used my camera, which is a Canon Powershot A640. Bigger than a phone and Im not comfortable half-holding the steering wheel with one hand whilst holding a camera in the same hand and having to change gear at the same time, under full acceleration.

Its easy if you dont like holding it. Bit blu tack on the bottom to stop the phone sliding then just sellotape the phone to the dash.

Shall have a go at this tomorrow I think, and then maybe submit my results if they're not too embarrassing :p

On Monday when I'm back at work I'll have a go in the combo, using the 1 potato 2 potato method, I'll be hapy with under 30 for that :D

Ford Focus ST170 - 6.4 Seconds :)

Tried it on the way home last night, was quite surprised

I doubt any bike is faster than the veyron.

Veyron 0-100 = 5.5
GSXR1000 0-100 = 5.6

I dont know about a ZZR1400 - should be faster though with about 30bhp more than a gsxr1000.

Not sure I can be bothered, too much hassle. Will just get a mate to take the video. Either way, its not going to be accurate as many have pointed out.....I'll jsut wait till I buy the new psi data monitor.

quite ;)

the GSXR750 i test rode did 75!

My SP1, that would be interesting... digital dash too, so maybe less "lag" between speed and actual speed maybe? Still the inaccuracies of speed tho, i'm sure.

OK perhaps I haven't explained it very well. However, I'm willing to bet there will be a significant distance between whether you measured the 30-70 from rolling 30mph or from all-out acceleration from 0mph, but only counting the time after 29mph.
