Here are some interesting and accurate times for you all:

Renault Clio Williams: 6.9 seconds
Lancia Delta Integrale: 6.8 seconds
Honda NSX 3.0: 4.9 seconds (pfft, better off with a Civic eh ;))
Ferrari F355: 3.8 seconds
E30 BMW M3: 6.7 seconds
E39 BMW 528i SE: 6.5 seconds
Ford Escort RS2000 Mk2: 9.4 seconds
Triumph Dolomite Sprint: 9.0 seconds
Peugeot 205 GTi 1.6: 8.5 seconds
Toyota Supra Mk4 Twin Turbo: 4.7 seconds
Lotus Carlton: 3.8 seconds (omfg thats quick)
Porsche 911 Turbo 996: 3.4 seconds

Oh and...

Honda Civic Type-R: 6.0 seconds

Not a mobile phone or stopwatch in sight - all times with pro timing gear, on cars less than 6 months old/5000 miles on the clock and accurate.

Hi there

Good list of times. I know the Carlton is quick, my uncle owned one many years ago and yes it was a quick car once on the move.

I see the 911 Turbo in there at 3.4s do you know if that was the 420BHP version or the 450BHP version?
Based on that Spies new Porka is surely in the region of 2.7-3.0s at a guess. :)

Also the E46 M3, I've seen two times, one is 4.1 and the other 4.75s both done with proper timing gear, which one is correct?

I would imagine the 911 Turbo was the 420bhp version. As for the E46 M3, 4.1 seconds is the figure Autocar got.

Now, all these figures mean is that this is the best time they got, on the day, with the car they used. They are 100% accurate times that the car can acheive, but of course, there is nothing to say a real Pro with zero mechanical sympathy couldn't shave a tenth off.

But having owned both, my opinion wasn't to be believed as we've got stopwatch experts on the forum :D

Mobile phone vids and speedos dont lie and anyone who says they do is SPOILING THE FUN OF THE THREAD!

Heres my video in the GTi, unfortunatly the cars running like a bag and spanners and the cat snapped in half literally after that video. :o
Looks like it might be off the road for quite awhile now, as its been cutting out and losing power quite badly everytime its been out recently.

106 GTi 30-70

My Citroen C2 1.4 always feels quite nippy through the gears, but I know it's a bit of a slug :) It's not even close to being in the same league as some of the cars in here, but it's cheap!

It's around 20 seconds (ish) through the gears, about a week if it's a top gear roll on.

::Edit - changed the times to something more like reality, rather than an estimate :) ::

Decided to grab my camera and finally managed a go at it and the encoding, just did it in third gear shall try it through the gears when i have something to stick the camera to. Went a bit over to compensate a little for the speedo, I count about 7s, if someone with a half decent video program could tell me a more precise time I'll be grateful!

Ok, finally got a bit of sunshine here so got the trusty duct tape and N95 all taped up :)

Uploaded to photobucket but not all that clear:

So uploaded the mp4 for those that want to actually see the speedo marks!

Going by my stopwatch its about 2.3 seconds - thats based on 33-75 which is what my gps says is 30-70. Wierd thing is I stopped accelerating at 75 but the needle keeps going past 80 so I dont know if theres any lag. The front wheel was skipping a fair bit, even with my weight shifted as far forward as possible, so I dont think much quicker is possible with this bike. Thats all in first gear, which is a bit wierd as you start off 4k below the powerband, but short of slipping the clutch theres not much I can do about that - all bikes seem to have huge first gears to keeo the others as close as possible.

Still, 2.3 ish isnt bad for a £2400 bike, compared to some of the figures fox posted - still a fair bit quicker than a 911 and an F355 :D

Click for the most exciting video you ever seen!

I count 19.3 Seconds 30-70, and it needs 4th gear to do it!

19.3 seconds? Where'd you get that from? I counted 17.4 with that link Gibbo posted. And it would have been even less had you let it rev higher in 2nd :p

Still, that's quite appauling. You should have got a 220SDi :p And check out some of the threads on Rovertech. The L-series isn't a bad lump at all and can be tuned quite nicely.

Is the list on the 1st page updated? is that everyones time? just seems like not many for 11 pages of thread! Im gonna try to remember to do this tomorrow hoping for a little over 3 seconds, hopefully be able to beat that poxy porka :p
