3080 / 3090 / 3070 Gigabyte Eagle Gaming OC & Vision Power Connector Concerns

It
Sent my card off which was collected Tuesday and tracking says they recieved it Yesterday (wednesday 21st). Will I recieve a confirmation from Gigabyte? Whats the expected turn around?

Hey, the card to us too late yesterday to fix it the same day, your card is being worked on now and will be sent out tonight for delivery tomorrow.

I think its common sense if you start taking things apart and they break it voids the warranty. If you had a concern about anything you should have contacted Gigabyte. Unlucky i feel sorry for you
Unfortunately wrong, at least in Germany which should be EU regulation. As long as you return all parts completely the dealer/service cannot reject warranty. But never mind getting some good plugs and fit them looks like best solution for me.

Really? I cant believe that electronic companies think its okay for customers to take apart products and tinker with them and if they damage it they can just send it back.

This is a common and well known issue. For gigabyte to void warranty based on this is wrong on so many levels and wont get them the publicity they want.

The plugs/wiring are all easily accessable without special tools and without damaging other parts. Assuming nothing other than the plugs/cables are touched then its not worth the headache for gigabyte surely. If gigabyte didn't want people trying to help them by repairing themselves then they should have made the product better in the first place ;)

Lets face it. The repair is not rocket science. ANY competent person could do it. Gigabyte should be giving owners the option to have the required parts shipped out to them and save themselves the costs of 2 way courier.

I’m honestly pretty mad that my card was so difficult to get the power connectors in and the answer from eSupport so I sold it and will order an ASUS ROG STRIX 3090 instead.

Has been fun though. Good luck everyone.

That's good to hear! That's a lot faster than I was expecting either way. Thanks very much for the quick responses and service. Look forward to receiving my card soon.

Just send the card back and get a full refund.
less said about it the better ...but you have posted here and you will have most likely given you serial to gigabyte now so they may be aware of this cards history.

Lets be clear here THIS is Gigiabytes fault problem from the start and why i am stating send it back

now i do not agree with you pulling it apart and then breaking it.

What have you done to break it .please explain ??

If nothing as burned up on the board and you have not physically damaged it in any way then all is good ..

Put it back together as it was and just send it back..

The problem i am aware of is to get to the connector block the whole heat sink as to come off ..now for most with experience not a problem but having the end user who may not be wise to this deal with maybe broken heat pads and cleaning off old thermal paste and reapplying new paste will be a minefield for most users.

Which then could lead to far worse problems than say just the power connector box going forward .

Agree with you though they should have made the product better and this should not have slipped out into the wild.

yeah it is ridiculous that they shipped the product in this way - makes me wonder what other things on the card they skimped on and may fail in the future!!!!!!!!!

I suspect the PCB design is fine from what i have seen already. but whoever came up with the idea to use this connector box and not have the power connector soldered to the PCB well enough said really..

But you can tell they decided they did not want the power cables coming out of the middle of the card and went for this option.
Just not a very good design option to begin with.

Glad you guys in the U.K. are getting taken care of with the help from @GIGA-Man, but if you're in the U.S., just know the customer support so far has been abysmal from Gigabyte. Yesterday I was waiting 45 min and not a single person answered, so I left a message (this is early in the morning, mind you) and never got a call back the remainder of the day. I tried calling again right when they opened for calls this morning at 11:30am est and waited nearly 30 min before giving up and just writing an email instead (which will of course make this whole thing longer). As a first time Gigabyte buyer, what a lousy start. If I had the option to choose a card at this point, it would've been any EVGA model just so I don't have to go through this process.

That's not good sorry to hear this

If it was me that had to go through this i would throw the towel in and send the card back to where you bought it from and get a full refund..then just wait until the dust settles even see what AMD have to offer as where so close now .

Either way hope you get something resolved

I advise you contact the local office in your region, I know they have recently fixed a few for people on this forum. While I am sure you are more then able to replace it yourself, it would likely void your warranty to do so. Check the contact us section of the GIGABYTE website and select our Polish office for details.
Okay thank you. I will do nothing with the card that could void anything nice try tho. if its a faulty old one i will send it right back if its new i will keep it, its that simple. EU has nice laws and my lawyer likes his job.

We will see if i get a new one. Something like this should never happen tho its not like Gigabyte is not long enough in the business to know better.

My biggest worry right now is that there's something wrong with even a single one of the pins on my card and I don't know it yet.

Should my computer even boot up if there's something wrong with the pins on my GPU and one of them isn't connected properly, or is this only gonna be an issue when a game I'm running pushes the card too hard? Gigabyte's just telling me to RMA it, but the turnaround time in the US doesn't seem all that great, and I'd have to use onboard graphics while my 3080's out. And even then, how do I guarantee that they even fix it if they're not even acknowledging the issue? Afaik they're gonna receive it, check to see if it works, see that it works, and send it back as is.

I've been hoping to pick up another 3080 in the meantime, but even that's become significantly more difficult with Nvidia moving to selling their FE cards on Best Buy and Newegg not receiving a restock since I picked up my Gigabyte card.

I finally got in touch with someone from Gigabyte for an RMA, and all he did was walk me through how to do it online lmao. I mean, I could've done that myself, but I was hoping they were aware of this problem by now and I could have someone do it with me manually so the process could be faster. It's not the consumer's fault the connectors are cheap and the soldering was rushed. They also "couldn't" pay for any faster shipping, so I settled to ship it by ground via UPS. Regardless, I'm happy I'm doing this now so it comes back to me before Cyberpunk releases. They likely won't receive it until next week, but I'll keep folks posted here if they're curious how the process is and how long this whole thing takes.

@Sunnysideguy I went through/am going through the same thing. If it helps, my card was received by Gigabyte on October 7th and then left their facilities on October 22nd. I am waiting with baited breath for it to actually arrive and will update with my final analysis once it has arrived.

Damn they had it for 15 days?! I think it’ll be close but as long as I get it before the 19th and they swap the old connectors with the new I’ll be happy

Yeah, I'm in that same "just get it to me before Cyberpunk" boat. They're claiming things are slower because of COVID, which I suppose is as good an excuse as any, but obviously take it with a grain of salt.

How did ya'll even manage to RMA it in the US? Whenever I try to submit an RMA request on the Aorus website, I get this error "common_valid.MSG_Common_Error". It's been happening for the past 2 weeks now.
