3080 / 3090 / 3070 Gigabyte Eagle Gaming OC & Vision Power Connector Concerns

37 and the leftmost 8 pin socket was difficult to plug my 6+2 power cable into.

Guaranteed my card's one of the bad ones. I just don't know if when I finally got the power cable plugged into it whether or not everything actually connected alright. Haven't touched anything since I put the card in my case about a month ago and everything's been fine.

It's just everybody I get ahold of in the US doesn't acknowledge the issue and wants me to pay for shipping it to them which seems ridiculous considering this issue should've resulted in a recall. Also been hesitant about sending it back because I'll be without a card for 3 weeks or however long it takes them to get it back to me, and if they're not acknowledging the issue now, I dunno if they'll acknowledge it whenever it gets to them and they take a look at it.

Re support i would keep hounding them..i am more than certain the whole of gigabyte are aware of this issue by now surly..me thinks some of there divisions are playing it down over this issue

Provide links to them showing this forum as one of there reps is here dealing with it..

You should not have to pay for any postage to them if anything they should be bending over backwards sorting this out for you ..you paid a lot of money for your card and to have this defect from new is not on at all ..

I am not impressed at all how this as been dealt with via Gigabyte globally ..however GIGA-man as been very helpful here.

I hope you get it sorted

This might not be related to the power connector issue, but my Gigabyte 3090 Gaming OC that I had for 3 weeks just randomly died while playing a game from 2002. PC wouldn't even try to start with it plugged in.

The card was from one of the batches before they fixed the connectors though.

that no good
what are the connector pins like ?

The connector pins weren't broken or bent or anything. I had no issues attaching the connectors from the first place, and they looked fine when I inspected the card after it went kaput.

So it doesn't sound like the two things are connected. Are you sure its the card and not the PSU that has gone kaput?

Yes, I tried with both an 850watt Corsair AX, and a 1000w Corsair AX.
When I went to turn it back in, the woman at the store tried it in a test PC before starting the RMA process. She said it almost started a fire when she tried to boot the PC.

Do you guys think any cards arriving from now on will have the issue resolved?
I've received my Gaming OC yesterday (ordered/shipped on October 21st) and it still has the 2037 serial number. I can't believe they are still sending out faulty products.

I'd recommend making contact with @GIGA-Man and arrange to have it sent for repair. It'll delay your using if for another week or so but seeing as you've waited this long, it's worth tagging a few more days on so you'll know you've got a reliable card that you won't have to worry over.

That wasn’t from Overclockers though was it?

Don’t name any competitor.

I'm actually in Canada, so tough luck for me. Sadly this thread is the only resource I have for any kind of direct online support. What a mess.

It wasn't.

Perhaps you could try to get in touch with your local support channel and refer them back to this thread, in case they aren't aware or don't want to acknowledge that this is a real issue. Good luck mate.

Update :

So took mine to the local gigabyte service center. The idiot over there was saying they cant give me a RMA as this looks like physical damage. Then found out another rep in India who was helpful (like Giga man). Finally got the RMA number from the service center. Then i get a call sometime back from Gigabyte saying they dont have the component needed to replace the connector block in India (isnt it like a 1 dollar cable ?) Also they told me they cant issue a replacement for now since there are no stocks. So they are issuing me a credit note and a full refund for my purchase.

Iam just going to get the refund and wait for a bit. This is such a botched launch by Nvidia and Gigabyte. I spent nearly Rs 91,000 on the GPU which is around 1235 USD (coz of customs, etc) and they make me run around. The worst part is that outside the UK, this issue is unknown to most retailers. For those who are looking to get this card, id suggest going for another brand (preferably Asus). Also before you buy the GPU, google " issues with that brand/GPU" and browse through diff forums before buying. Had i done that, would have saved a lot of time/effort. Gigabyte has screwed up the RTX 3080 experience for me.

Good move

Assuming you're in the US, maybe try calling the phone number?

Phone: 1-(626)-854-9338 op. 4

You may need to be on hold for a bit, just be patient and don't use their callback feature.
lmao, called this and they just outright directed me to the rma website without any other info

Also just figured out that it seems like Gigabyte messed up and made the zip code field during account creation unique, so I had to put in a fake zip code and change it after creating my account.

Pretty sure if I just try and do this through the RMA website, they're gonna try and make me pay for shipping. Ended up shooting them an email, another message to the person I've been in contact with through support, and I'll probably keep calling them until they put me on the line with someone who knows even the slightest thing about what's going on.

We've not shipped out anymore of the old type for the last four weeks roughly, not sure how you got a week37 one. Could be slow shipping in your region, not sure about distribution in Canada. Contact the US team and request their help, I know head office has updated everyone on the issue and provided the connectors.

@tng, see the quoted text above which I believe GIGA-Man had intended to address to you :)
