3080 / 3090 / 3070 Gigabyte Eagle Gaming OC & Vision Power Connector Concerns

I'll see if I can find someone and what level of repair they are doing.

Thanks. The problem here is that theyre saying they haven't received the replacement cables yet which might take quite some time. And given how low stocks are, they dont have any buffer for replacements. Sad situation really. For now ive asked them to issue a full refund.

Update :

So took mine to the local gigabyte service center. The idiot over there was saying they cant give me a RMA as this looks like physical damage. Then found out another rep in India who was helpful (like Giga man). Finally got the RMA number from the service center. Then i get a call sometime back from Gigabyte saying they dont have the component needed to replace the connector block in India (isnt it like a 1 dollar cable ?) Also they told me they cant issue a replacement for now since there are no stocks. So they are issuing me a credit note and a full refund for my purchase.

Iam just going to get the refund and wait for a bit. This is such a botched launch by Nvidia and Gigabyte. I spent nearly Rs 91,000 on the GPU which is around 1235 USD (coz of customs, etc) and they make me run around. The worst part is that outside the UK, this issue is unknown to most retailers. For those who are looking to get this card, id suggest going for another brand (preferably Asus). Also before you buy the GPU, google " issues with that brand/GPU" and browse through diff forums before buying. Had i done that, would have saved a lot of time/effort. Gigabyte has screwed up the RTX 3080 experience for me.

Mine arrived today (Gaming OC )from an Indian retailer ..(I am based in Ahmedabad). I was nervous hearing about all of the issues, but so far *touch wood*, no issues.

The 8 pins sit in the card fine, and its working.

I was nervous because upon opening it had a 2038 serial number, BUT the cables do have the heat shrink.

Fingers crossed.....and yes I did pay through the nose for it......Rs.95k total

You lucked out. I got one from the old batch (Wk37). Retailer had no clue, idiots at the service center also had no clue. Thankfully there was a rep who helped me out and i got it RMAed and hopefully fully refunded soon. Sorry to say, never buying a Gigabyte GPU again.

Will probably end up buying some other brand such as Asus or MSI.

Hi, just picked up my Gigabyte 3080 Gaming OC today with a serial number starting with 2042. This one had the old power connectors and of course couldn't be plugged in at all. It's a bit odd considering it definitely should have the new ones?

As is expected by now, did you buy it in the UK? and did you buy it from a 1st hand retailer? As in a store that would have got shipments of the card from distributors.

Wk 42 and at fault that is odd . Do the cable's have heatshrink on ?

@GIGA-Man any idea what is going on here ?

Apologies for the late response. Yes, they're both the same and start with 2042. I have gotten it plugged in and it does seem stable, will consider a RMA at a later point though to get the improved connectors.

Yes i would RMA it later. Once all the dust settles

However i am concerned why a WK42 as the faulty block ..its not good at all ..hopefully GIGA-man will shed some light on this.

It seems with enough complaining I might get free shipping on this RMA in the US, so that's a start. Won't know if this was a success or not though until the RMA is approved and like a month from now I get the card back though...

Could the launch get any worse? Its a car crash at this point. Why doesnt Gigabyte just issue a recall on all their older GPUS (the ones with this issue)? We know ack of proper contact can lead to burn damage (which would automatically void warranty).

I just checked my 3090 and it's a 2036 and working completely fine. I don't plan on removing it for a couple of years or so, that said would the option to send it to gigabyte in 6 months + still be there to be "fixed" when this has calmed down a bit? or should i just crack on and get it done now?

My PC is under warranty for 3 years with a competitor so i guess i best make sure it's fine with them first also!

I'm not disconnecting my perfectly working card just to see if it breaks after repeated insertions. I left it on a 12 hrs burn in test with extra overclock and it was fine. Its a Gamers OC 3090 and I am overclocking the overclock such that I get a further 6% improvement in some benchmarks! Its a 2037 serial. I will probably send it away before the warranty is up though so I can feel comfortable to resell it in the future.
