3080 / 3090 / 3070 Gigabyte Eagle Gaming OC & Vision Power Connector Concerns

Based on the current info I have, and this is limited to the reports I see here specifically. The connectors are not faulty, however some units after repeat use are developing a problem where the pins become lose and do not make proper connection with the pin outs form the PSU. I will make sure that anyone that has a card with this original connector, can report the problem to me directly or on here and I will make sure it gets fixed for you ASAP.

thx shall Update #4 :)

Alright. I just contacted my retailer once again, and if i RMA it i'll be placed in the back of the queue behind new orders for the cards apparently, so this seems like a lose-lose situation to me. Either i RMA it, get my money back and won't see another card until 2021, or I can try to fix it myself. Will i break the warranty if I open the card and fasten the pins in my power connector? As I'm from Norway, shipping my card to the UK for a small fix seems a bit unnecessary. Not even sure you take in cards from other countries

Maybe contact GIGA-Man not sure how you stand here with it not being a purchase for OCUK ..i would assume they want this resolved and would be the right thing to do i guess

the other problem is to get to the connector block the entire heatsink as to be removed hence why GIGA-man stated not to be done by end user

Do you guys using RGB fusion 2.0 . For some reason its not working on my pc with 3080 gaming oc card.
The app menu is greyed out i cant do nothing with it. Dont know if its hardware related issue or software . I uploaded video for better understanding https://youtu.be/9txbKojB-1Y

Not sure on that Ico i do not use these types of software ... maybe start a thread so more peeps will see and help you from there

For what is worth I got Vision pre-ordered on OCUK ( 2nd place in the queue ) I shall update how pins are once I have received my card.

That would be great thx

Update:
Opened my GPU, pushed the pins back into the power connector, plugged in the 8-pin cables, made sure to push the pins all the way in from underneath the card's power connector, put on some new thermal paste, put the whole thing together and now it's running like a dream. It was a very easy fix, but I've never done it before so i was a bit sceptical. Glad i did it though. I must say I am astounded how they we're able to ship this card with this power connector though. I'll probably have to go through the same process again if i ever plug the power out of the card.

Glad you got it sorted ..i hope you used non conductive thermal paste ..what i would do if i was in your position... is get the card in and get using it and leave it be ..then once all the dust settles and there is good stock everywhere ..then RMA and get the new connector block ..that way far less down time

Glad your up and running enjoy

Hi ya'll, I've whizzed through this thread a bit, so apologies if the answer has been posted, I didn't see it:

Will this issue delay the Eagle OC? As in - did you delay them from the factory to fix this issue? Someone told me that they won't now get shipped until November?

I am not sure re delays maybe if they pulling the defective stock back in and fixing then yes ..i would guess this is a big problem for Gigabyte atm re the stock that as been built with the defective block and they are revising all new built cards going forward as stated by Giga-man... and to add its not just the Eagles effected here any with the old connector blocks

Happy to say, I plugged in tested and all seems to be fine. Will test extensively over the next few days. New connector and pins seem much more robust and better quality. No dropped pins or having to bend straight etc. and I didn't have any problems this time around. Great job and thank you @GIGA-Man

Great to hear

Hey. If i want buy Eagle or Gaming oc 3090 rtx buy or cancel due that connectors?

As stated in thread depends when you will get your card if your high on the wait list chances are you will get the revised fixed connector box so nothing to worry about ..if however you do get one that as not been revised you can contact GIGA-man and he will arrange for it to be replaced

thx @GIGA-Man for the updates ..as stated before are you able to give the serial number info cut off points on the Old design ? on the range of cards effected with the block..

As it seems this issue will happen regardless over time on the old design and would be great info for peeps to know if there on the new or old design of the block.

So then they can decide what is best for them going forward if there on the old block.

I'm going to get Eagle OC tomorrow. In case I get a faulty power connector, can I request just upgraded plastic box with power connectors?
I'm not interested to sending card back.

No you have to contact @GIGA-Man as stated in the OP under update 3 here it is

"Any one that start to have these problems on the cards, please contact [email protected] and I'll get it fixed for you, to save time please include name, address, serial number, check number (these are on the box label) and best day for collection. I'll arrange to have the card collected, fixed and shipped back to you ASAP."

Its a quick turn around of 3 days as someone mentioned in this thread before

I read that, but I want know if there is also other option like the one I mentioned.
And I doubt it would take just 3 days. Maybe inside UK country, but I'm from Czech Republic.

As far as i know the rep did state they did not want peeps messing with these cards cos to get to the block the whole heat sink as to come off.

I am not sure re you not being in the uk but he did advise someone from Spain before will have to wait see what the rep says. @GIGA-Man can you advise Marek Sedler please.

Faulty connector its when i cant plug pins or what? Can explain me pls

Its when the pins push in they de crimp in the connector box and as you see in this photo then the card may not work.

In this thread its happened to a few and some on Reddit

here is an example of one of user in this thread with there 3090 Gaming oc
I quote

"I have this exact issue, my 3090 Gaming OC doesn't start now. All it took was one unplugging and replugging to tidy up the cabling a bit after the initial testing. Looking at the pins they are definitely all over the place. Not happy, especially since it's such minor thing and easy to get right/wrong, yet so critical. I could try and get those pins in order with some tweezers, but for such an expensive product you wouldn't expect having to resort to such measures. Nor do I want to."

Hope that helps

Edit*** just saw the response GIGA-man gave thx

I have exactly the same problem. Received my 3090 gaming oc on the 29th. Tried to plugin the power connectors. Did not fit... out of the box. Tried to connect another pair and after pushing hard it went in.. to only find out that the pins were pushed back. From the back of the card I could push a few wires back in. Still I think 1 pin is not connected right. The card works though but I had few cases that seemed like OCP triggers? (black screen, reboot). I have contacted my local rep (Netherlands) that was listed on the site. Still have 2 weeks left to return if it's going to take longer.

That is not good to hear at all you could damage the card having force things and then the connectors not being correctly connected ... my advice and as the UK rep as stated.. Is to contact Gigabyte direct for country your in as they will certainly know more about this than the reseller does..This applies to all Non UK Buyers.

I would also get the reseller where you bought the card from to acknowledge there is an issue by linking this thread as it shows clearly there is a problem as stated by the Gigabyte Rep here.

Also please post up some photos if you wish..As evidence. It builds a better case re this problem going forward .

Its the main reason the threads here for.

Now there seems to be a problem where Non UK buyers are having problems and there reseller not knowing about this problem.. and lets be clear here there is a problem... well on the early stock with the defective blocks that is.

Gigabyte needs to address this and to help all buyers no matter which country your from and get it turned around with replaced fixed card.

@GIGA-Man As great full as i am that your able to help out UK buyers.. can you please advise the non UK buyers what there options are here...Surly Gigabyte need to make things clear re this issue. People that are Non UK need to know where they stand with this .. my guess depending how many of these cards with the defective blocks are out in the wild ..then its only going to get worse with more reports cropping up.

I will have to update the OP what there options are for Non UK buyers.
