3090 Reported To Be A Laughable 10% Faster Than 3080

The massive cooler will be because they've had to pump more power through it. Already being close to the limits efficiency goes out the window and massive cooling is required. My guess is it's little more than a highly overclocked 3080. I'd be expecting 50% extra performance for 100% more cash.

If you must buy Nvidia, get a 3080 and trade up when the dust settles.

On the leaks that show 10% increase it had clocks in the 1700mhz. Getting it to 2000mhz should get you somewhere closer to that 20% difference I suspect.

I hope so as if those leaked results are true I have seen overclocked 3080s score the same so the only gain you would get from a 3090 over a decent OC 3080 would be how much overclock you can get out of the 3090.

Going off the Videocardz leak, compared to the 3080 the 3090 is:

5.5 FPS faster in Metro Exodus
8 FPS faster in HZD
8 FPS faster in Far Cry
6 FPS faster in AC
8 FPS faster in Tomb Raider
6.4 FPS faster in BL3
12 FPS faster in Death Stranding
5 FPS faster in Control

I honestly expected more for £750 extra.

Not only does this leak make the 3090 look bad and the 3080 look good, it also makes the 6900XT look better if it will dual with the 3080.
Lol. Would be too funny if true.

Everybody please believe these dodgy benchmarks and don't buy a 3090 on launch day.

Hopefully if people do the above I will be able to snap up a 3090 without having to fight off swarms of bots.:D

It seems that 3070 was meant to be 3080, and actual 3080 was supposed to be 3080TI and 3090 was meant to be Titan (so difference isn't high, just like before).

Only one logical explanation for such shift - RDNA2. :)

Will still buy 3090 though...
Well, the other logical explanation for such a shift is:
  1. Nvidia's gamble on getting cheaper wafers from Samsung backfired spectacularly and they were forced to shift their stack and still clock like mad.
  2. Next gen consoles and the low sales numbers from the 2000 series meant they couldn't overprice them again.
  3. At 80% marketshare Nvidia mainly compete with themselves and that means they need a certain model to model uplift or people won't buy. The top GA104 wasn't going to achieve this versus TU104, so they had to use GA102.
  4. Nvidia's think Rdna2 is going more competitive at the high(er) than AMD's recent launches.

FE 3090 is one option yes.

I have been very happy using the RTX Titans which are also FE cards and far better than the old blower style cards NVidia used to produce.

Having said that if I can not get a 3090 early on I may wait for something like the Kingpin.

The Kingpin would be great.

I am also looking at after market cards...but no real reviews out.
They are cutting it short.

Asus seem to be leading the pack in terms of cooler quality. If I can't get a 3090 FE, I'll likely order the Asus Strix 3090 and be done with it!

Making me second guess swapping out my cards now. Both overclock well to 2100 and so far that means 3080 are only 10% faster in some games and if the leaks about the 3090 is true, its only going to be 20% faster.

I was hoping for the 3090 to be 50% faster than a 2080ti to justify the £1500+~ spend.

Do Asus offer extended warranties on gpus ? I can't find any info on that. Evga offer 5 or 10 year extensions and I have a evga 2080ti with a 10 year warranty. . What are Asus RMAs like , any good ?
