30xx Series Founders Edition

Be thankful you got one at all. There are thousands of people still without one and limiting it to 1 per household gives them a better chance of getting one.

That is great for me and all - not so great for people who live with me who are part of those thousands without but unless they can persuade someone else to buy on their behalf now blocked indefinitely - assuming they even could buy.

If you live together you can atleast share I guess although most the people looking to buy extra to their household are probably intending to scalp and make a quick buck.

Share? it isn't exactly practical or a reasonable proposition.
Why not? I sometimes let the kids on my PC for some gaming and when I was a kid me and my brother shared a Commodore 64.

While nobody wants limits on anything these have had to be put in place to stop scalpers who were playing the system.

Not an impossibility but still kind of silly that it is so blanket address wise indefinitely.
Unfortunately in times like these it's just something we have to live with, I'd rather these companies put measures in place to try and stop scalping than do nothing and obviously they can't please everyone.

Is it? Have a better suggestion?

I think yours is probably an edge case. Id wager the vast majority of people ordering to the same address where either scalping or mining the cards rather than having multiple gamers under the same roof. Im sure they exist, but its got to be much less likely.

There system isnt perfect, but Id say its the best one of the bunch. Look at other places that have bad bot protection and no multi-order protection.
Even the 3-letter store which keeps cards in your basket for 15m while you check out. Sure thats a great system...except all the cards get auto-bought using bots.
So while you could order 2 cards for the same household there...good luck beating the bots...

If it wasn’t, the only people buying FE cards would be bots.

Don’t you remember early on people buying one for themselves, one for their brother, one for their sister, one for their neighbour, one for their dog walking friend, it was all a bit dubious back then.

At least by limiting orders to one per address it increases the odds of genuine gamers actually being able to buy one.

Not by much, granted, but better odds for sure.

Well just got mine... won't try it until I finish at work, but I can say they do exist indeed. I was starting to think all this was kind of a big joke...

Blanket rules will never work for everyone, but the important thing is that they work for a high majority. I'm sure there are still ways to get around situations like house shares... e.g. I know my parents or brother would let me order using their CC and delivery address if I needed another card.

Its only going to get easier after each drop as their security stops a lot of people that are looking to purchase extra, and all the scalpers only will have access to so many friends and family. Should be easier each drop until Nvidia stop the drops.

Makes sense! However, I wonder if there are lots more people in pre-order queues that are looking at FE drops with increased interest now as patience runs out?

Don't forget those buying a 3060ti while waiting for a 3080, then buying a 3070 while waiting for a 3080, then buying a 3090 while waiting for a 3080.:D

It seems to be working better than before, I was actually trying to get a 3080, but didn't have any luck. I got the 3070 after they were gone, so it was probably an auto-cancelled order from someone else. I still think a queue system would be much better to be honest, it has taken me 6 months to buy a GPU (and not the one I was after even), and I've been sitting by the computer during every single drop, so I can imagine there are thousands of people still trying to get one. Then you see people having bought quite a few... I almost wish they had a queue system asking for your NI number or something...

Well it doesn't surprise me many people are doing that. I got a 3070 myself but I was originally trying to get a 3080. At the end of the day, I got what I could rather than what I wanted, because after 6 months trying I can say I was ****** off indeed. But of course, if there were no measures in place and more cards go on sale tomorrow, I wouldn't hesitate in getting a 3080... hell, I wouldn't hesitate in buying even the same GPU again, because I can just go walk to the city centre and sell mine for almost double of what I paid... Of course there are plenty of people abusing the system and buying GPUs for their brothers, sisters, dogs... and for their 7 PCs...

As I said, a queue system would probably work better for most people. I wouldn't have minded to join a queue in December/January when I knew buying a GPU was close to being impossible. Instead of that, I had to buy what I could, and "play the lottery" for six months... not to mention the 123123 alert systems I had to install etc, loads of time wasted when you think about it.

If anything demand is likely rising as more people look at the cheaper FE models over the soaring prices of AIB cards.

Yes your correct, but these will be more likely to be "real gamers" rather then miners and scalpers. Saying that it doesn't take much for your average gamer to see the prices and think of selling it on as its easy money.
