30xx Series Founders Edition

The TUF is a bit better but then it depends when you expect it to arrive as any card is better than waiting for months with no card.

Do these cards disappear from basket at the checkout as the wife managed to checkout a 3060ti but after the bank sent a payment verification which she verified she said it come up basket empty, guessing she was to slow?

Argh ffs, missed another drop due to work... FML

To be honest I find quite annoying the times they decide to put them for sale... Shouldn't I haven't been working from home, I would have missed it.

It almost looks like if they wanted to sell only to kids, people who doesn't work, or bots.

That was probably the case. If they expect normal people to sit by the computer, logged in and subscribed to alert systems etc 24/7 I think they don't know what world they live in really. A queue system would be much better, because most of the sold cards will be put on sale in eBay tomorrow.

Yeah she was busy cooking so didn't even notice it till 10 mins after the alert but still managed to add one to basket, went through all the payment stuff then it just said basket empty.

Last three drops I was sitting by the computer, and I still didn't manage to get one, so do not torture yourself or put the blame on her, as sometimes it is also luck playing it's part really.

I really don't understand this system they have put into place, sure they can't expect normal people to have any chance of buying anything.

It's a random and very awkward system to say the least, other stores have better systems where if you add to card it gives you x amount of minutes to check out and keeps people in a queue as long as there are cards that haven't checked out. Then it's basically whoevers first in the queue to have a chance to get the card if its not checked out in time, they get the same time as the original person to buy it.

I'm not that bothered as I said we should get the kids a PS5 instead so I can play it when they're in bed :D although she wants them to have a PC but I told her it will be a nightmare trying to get a card right now.

I am really getting fed up with this now. I was in this thread just before the drop happened but my father phoned with some bad news as my uncle had passed away. By the time I got back to the computer it was all over. Like many others I have a life and can't just sit around waiting for alerts or can drop everything when one happens. This is a bad time for PC gamers. One day I will get a new card.

I just have always been, though isn't the FE one of the lower performing cards out of the whole 3080 range, in terms of FPS, heat and noise?

I would rather than the Asus than the FE. Depends if you need to cancel the Asus to get money back in hand for covering cost of the FE. Two options, cancel the Asus and allow others to move up a space, wait patiently for Asus to arrive, make your choice, and take other to high street exchange place or sell here on MM.

To be fair to them, they have greatly varried the drop times recently. They use to drop reliably only between about 10:00 and 17:00 on a week day. But usually the even narrower window of between 12:00 - 14:00. So most people not working at home had no chance...
Over the lest couple of months there have been evening drops at like 20:00, there have been Saturday morning drops etc. In terms of times, its been much better than say a certain retailer of computer goods and washing machines... who for a time dropped there stock at 02:00 - 03:00, when only the bots are active...

Again, there system is one of the better ones. Only 1 retailer I can think of currently has a 15 minute timer for you to checkout. However there prices are pre-scalped and site is easily botted anyway...
The FE retailer has very strong bot protections, to the point where not even all the alert servers manage to ping for them.
Recently (last 2 months~) they have really strong review process of all orders, both manual and automated to prevent ANY repeat buying.
If you have purchased ANY RTX card, be it AIB or FE previously, they will cancel your order. Some have even had issues where they live in flats or uni accommodation, where the postcode covers many addresses, and still getting cancelled because that post code already had orders...

This mass-decline of orders each drop gives people a 2nd chance. Till the page reads "Out of Stock", all cards are not gone. Usually within 10m~ of the drop, many orders get cancelled. That gives another chance for people to get one.
Then after the manual review, sometimes another chance.

Its crazy that 6m+ after launch its still this hard to get cards. But the FE cards are about the best chance anybody has of getting one. And given how they still cost the original RRP, they are easily the BEST value.

This time was really quick... Managed to get one after the first drop, seems like. Probably one of the orders which were automatically cancelled (scalpers' bots, very likely)

What I find annoying is the fine they have decided to release them... 18.10, seriously? Seems like they don't want normal working people to buy any of them. The average person would be driving home after a day of work at that time...

Yeah. I can afford to keep the pre-order with OCUK, as well as having this FE. Though £760 is a lot to keep tied up for more months (queue position 300+) and there's a risk that by the time I get that card, the prices of second hand 3080 cards will drop and I'd lose money.

Times are a little random, I bagged my 3080 at 10am. The current system, while not perfect by any means, at least offers gamers a slim chance of getting a card.

Well, of the last three drops, one was saturday/sunday, which I think is a perfect day to do it, but the other two were during the week, at 9.00 and 18.10 respectively. That, is a horrible timing for a person with a normal life and work, as these are the hours when people is just starting working or finishing doing so, and therefore the time of the day when people is less likely to have a chance of getting one. Previous ones were at lunch time, which is not bad either, I guess.

At least the system seems to be working, to an extent... there is much less people claiming to be buying for their brother, cousin, friend now... or maybe they learnt the lesson and are hoping to grab one with the OCUK deals, who knows.

And for the record, I do not think the washing machine store was actually selling cards to customers... I got the chance to add a few to my basket in the past, but never was able to complete my order. I've been trying to upgrade since early december, to jump into VR, and altough I really wanted a 3080, the 3070 I got will have to do for quite a good while... but I am not going to forget what I've gone through and which retailers or even manufacturers have been transparent, and which ones haven't, that's for sure... Gonna buy the VR set, more RAM etc... good luck selling these items to miners/scalpers.
