30xx Series Founders Edition

Yeah. I can afford to keep the pre-order with OCUK, as well as having this FE. Though £760 is a lot to keep tied up for more months (queue position 300+) and there's a risk that by the time I get that card, the prices of second hand 3080 cards will drop and I'd lose money.

At 300+ I’d just cancel it. OCUK are getting what 10 cards a week? That’s another 30 weeks…

A 3080 is a 3080 at the end of the day, the marginal gains your talking about aren’t worth £50 let alone £100+. The FE will probably have better resale down the line too.

Well, of the last three drops, one was saturday/sunday, which I think is a perfect day to do it, but the other two were during the week, at 9.00 and 18.10 respectively. That, is a horrible timing for a person with a normal life and work, as these are the hours when people is just starting working or finishing doing so, and therefore the time of the day when people is less likely to have a chance of getting one. Previous ones were at lunch time, which is not bad either, I guess.

At least the system seems to be working, to an extent... there is much less people claiming to be buying for their brother, cousin, friend now... or maybe they learnt the lesson and are hoping to grab one with the OCUK deals, who knows.

And for the record, I do not think the washing machine store was actually selling cards to customers... I got the chance to add a few to my basket in the past, but never was able to complete my order. I've been trying to upgrade since early december, to jump into VR, and altough I really wanted a 3080, the 3070 I got will have to do for quite a good while... but I am not going to forget what I've gone through and which retailers or even manufacturers have been transparent, and which ones haven't, that's for sure... Gonna buy the VR set, more RAM etc... good luck selling these items to miners/scalpers.

The thing is, somebody will always have an issue with the drop time. "Its at the weekend, I have kids to play with and take to the park", "its at rush hour, arent people driving home like normal people".
If anything, for anybody without an alert setup using discord/twitter/telegram, a fixed time each week would work much better. Otherwise its pure dumb luck if they stumble on the site at just the right momment.

And Im there with ya on the washing machine store.... so many failed orders for me back in Dec / Jan. :(

Wonder if it was due to fraud checks?

This is the email I got:

This is an automated email. Please do not reply

Hi there,

This email is notification of the cancellation of your order for the NVIDIA Founders Edition 3000 series card.

In an effort to ensure as many gamers as possible have a chance to own a card, there are strict restrictions in place on the purchase of founders edition cards.
The terms and conditions on the page state the following: "Only available for shipping to UK / Ireland, strictly one RTX 30 series card per person, delivery address and IP address, for personal use. Not adhering to these terms may result in cancellation of all of your orders. Due to increased demand, this is a change from the previous restrictions of 2 x 3090 per person, starting 27th Feb 2021".

Your order may have been cancelled for one of the following reasons:

* Placing more than one order
* Use of a parcel forwarding service
* Listing the card for sale on an online marketplace
* Use of bots or automation
* Trying to circumvent the restrictions in place by any other means

In the case of duplicate order one order may have been left in place. We can not go into specific reasons as to why your order was cancelled. Our customer services team cannot reinstate orders once cancelled and do not know the exact reason why your order was cancelled. We hope as the demand is satisfied that these restrictions can be relaxed in the future.

Please ignore any 'order completion' emails you may receive relating to your cancelled order. The order is cancelled; our system has completed the invoice in order to provide you with a full refund, which should reach you within the next 3-5 working days.

We recommend you take the time to read our&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=" &cancelledreason&">Terms and Conditions.

Best regards

I would imagine what gave me away was the failed 3080 order which used my Internet connection, I connected to the o2 wireless for the 3070 attempt and used the same payment info.

Doesn't bother me really, happy enough to wait til there's more games about that interest me. :)
Did you successfully order an RTX30 card from them before?

Otherwise be odd theyd cancel you at all. Unless somebody in your post-code already ordered?

Blocking orders by IP alone also seems pointless. Most residential are going to be dynamic.

Yeah got a 3070 in december and sold it on as it was barely being used, though it was handy for video encoding.

I got the impression that purchases before Xmas were not being counted... I guess they are.

They're making it up as they go along, that much is obvious. The 3090 was a card that were available for 2 purchases as it supports nv link while the rest of the range wasn't, that's also changed to 1.

My 3080FE is marked as dispatched, few. I was doing captcha about 30 secs after getting the Telegram msg. Added 3080 to basket but was sold out. Kept smashing the F5 key and got one 4-5 mins later.
From same shop I got ASUS 3070 8GB DUAL OC start of March. Pretty sure I overpaid > £100 at £684 (3080 FE is cheaper). I noticed there were 3060TI still available after I completed my order.
As others said don't give up until they list stock all sold out.

It would have been odd if they excluded pre-xmas orders... why would people that ordered earlier be allowed to buy multiples but later buyers not?

The 2x 3090 rule kinda made sense initially. Demand for those cards was much lower (they would hang around up to a day in-stock back in Jan) and as you said... they support SLI still. So there is a "legitimate" reason why somebody might need 2 cards.

However now that they are sold out just as fast, and even CeX is offering near £2k for them it makes perfect sense to also restrict those to 1 per buyer.

I bought my 3060Ti in December because I couldn't get a 3080FE, so for them to change the rules after I have bought my card sucks as I purchased under a different set of rules..

Still, I'm not here often enough to get any gaming in at the mo so I'll just have to see if they drop an FE 3080Ti and get one of those instead...

It's annoying, I bought a 3060 Ti on release day (2nd Dec) because I missed the 3080, planned on getting a 3080 later and giving the 3060 Ti to the wife, but now I'm stuck with a 3060 Ti (and no card for her build) because even 6 months on from the first order they won't let me order another FE card. Tried making an account under her name with her own bank card but it still blocked the order, presumably because I tried getting it delivered to the same house.

Yeah it is a bit silly - now I've bought a 3070FE that blocks everyone in my house from buying anything FE wise indefinitely (even if they could).

Be thankful you got one at all. There are thousands of people still without one and limiting it to 1 per household gives them a better chance of getting one.
