30xx Series Founders Edition

I had heard about the

build quality, but so heavy.

Whats the deal with the FE rules (1 per customer)?

If i have bought a 3060ti in the past, would i be able to get a different card (3070 or 3080 for example)?

Not with the account/ip/delivery address and payment details you bought the 3060ti on.

I can't think that the performance uplift from my 3080 would make it even remotely worth it.

I wanted a 3080, but got a 3060Ti instead, so unless stupidy priced, I wouldn't mind a 3080Ti, IF they do an FE version and it has a realistic MSRP...

Currently waiting on my 3090 FE to arrive, sometime in the next 2 hours. Hesitant to put it into current PC (replacing my 1080 Ti) as the PSU is 8 years old at this point and I'm not sure where I put all the modular cables... Will be buying the rest of the nw PC next week so will just try to be strong. Also I'm not playing anything right now that needs the 3090...

When my RM750i PSU started having issues at the start of the year with black screen reboots.... to confirm PSU I switched it out for a spare HX750 I had lying around. Not been used in a system for 5yrs+ and purchased 11 years ago. I was very nervous connecting it to my new gear, but especially the 3080fe I had at the time.

It preformed like a champ. Ran the whole system without fault for over a month while I went through RMA'ing the 750i, then RMA'ing the replacement too...

Only 'issue' was how loud the fan was on the old unit... no fan stop either so kinda annoying at desktop.

So, if its a solid PSU, I wouldnt worry. But if you have new parts due next week, might aswell wait. :) (If it was longer, id say try the 3090fe, as you want to make sure its not DOA or has any issue. )

/Side note - Anybody's FE card coil whine getting better? My cards seems to be staying the same or even getting worse :( I often play games with volume turned down, and all I can hear is the dam whine!
I do find it gets better after maybe an 45m~ gaming. But still present.

Makes me still want to keep up the hunt for an AIB card to get back to the silence my old system provided. (MSI GTX970 gaming.) Or...even more drastic ... put a whole in the wall to the under-stairs cupboard and put the PC in there! (Rent house...so not a 'real' option sadly)

Mine's improved LOADS since I got it. It was pretty bad under load with a loud buzz. It's hardly audible now I'd say.

Mine doesn't whine but I'm usually at 4k and capped at 60 or got the VR goggles on which would mask it. Possibly my ears are broken though, decades of rock music and motorbikes can do that so I've heard. Or haven't.

How long you had yours?
Mine gets better as it heats up. But next time, if playing from cold its back to as bad as before.
Undervolt has helped, but still annoying AF!

Haha, yea I did wonder if age/loud music/etc 'damaged' or reduced hearing would 'benefit' by not hearing high pitched squeaks and whines.

Im really not sure an RMA would be worth it. Have heard they will accept it. But just cant see getting a card without it :| My 80fe and now my 90fe both have it about as bad.
And I wonder if at least some of the people who say they dont have it, maybe just cant hear it? Reason I say that... what would be different about 2 cards of the same model, where one would whine and the other not? I thought it was more to do with the design than some kind of 'lottery' on the coils? (I know very little about why it happens..)

Its why I put more stock into differing AIB boards having less than boards of the same card.

Installed the 3090FE, it's actually not quite as big as I thought it would be, slim chance I could've got away without removing the HDD shelf but I reckon it would have gouged/scraped the end of the card.

Just done some quick testing and got a weird scenario, I'm not hitting 100% utilisation on either GPU or CPU? Doom Eternal, just loading up a save is running about 80-90% GPU, 50-65% CPU (highest single thread around 75%).
Vsync is off and the framerate will go a lot higher in the menu, so it's not being capped. VRAM and RAM both well within limits.

This makes no sense to me, surely one of the GPU or CPU should be maxed out if I'm running at uncapped framerate? Anyone seen something like this, could it be the bus is saturated (PCIE 3.0 16x) and hence the card can't be fully utilised?

To be honest before testing I was half expecting a CPU limitation (2700X), but the stats from Afterburner don't support that. Doom Eternal seems incredibly good spreading the load over 16 threads, probably due to Vulkan.

It maybe a slight CPU bottleneck with the 2700X especially if your running really high fps.
