That's not true, they tend to happen when I am out of the country..
I'm going on holiday next Wednesday but that's only St. Ives so not sure that counts, however, I am away again from 26th to the 2nd August so expect a drop then, or 10th-16th Aug or 19th-31st of Aug.

Thanks mate. Is there any chance you could leave the country tonight and come back on Monday? It should give me a decent chance of getting a card :p
 
You know that retailer is most likely sitting on some stock.

Because they were able to send out a brand new replacement 3080 to me this week, arrived 7 Jul.

I would say this. They probably have to chore it into the daily stuff so likely they don't list them straight away.

I should imagine that they are sat on stock for RMA's anyway as they know how long it takes to get hold of cards.

Kind of the other way around. The outer (cosmetic) shroud is clipped to heatsink with three clips. The heatsink itself is screwed to the PCB, so that isn’t going anywhere. Skip to 20 mins in this video.

are you waiting on a card Raven? It's usually every 2 weeks or more often.

I got my 3080 after getting ready when some of the other models dropped.

it was really tense when I got in my basket though, like getting to the last 2 in Warzone!!!
 
Regarding FE, at what point do they just stop making them? I mean it's not really "Founders" edition if you are buying one 10 months after launch is it?

I doubt they will stop making them as it gives Nvidia the opertunity to market the cards for much cheaper than they are in reality.

RTX 3080 from as little as £649 sounds much better than RTX 3080 for just £1200
 
The whole meaning of FE has changed. I'm sure it used to be a more expensive card that you get a few weeks before the main release. Now it seems to constitute a baseline price and AIBs deliver 'premium' cards for far more. Even though most of them don't look as good, and to my mind are likely to be worse at cooling.

FE cards have the best binned GPU's too ;) Though custom cards allow for increased power draw for those chasing extreme, hot n loud overclocks.
