30xx Series Founders Edition

So is the concensus that ultimate are likely best and neither 1.5 or 2mm are fine?

Ultimate are beter but don`t compress as much and can lead to various results, some good and some not so good, the extreme compresses more so it can cope with slight differences in manufacturing tolerances, this is the guide I used when repadding my 3080FE

There was a discussion about the different pads and results people were getting, when I find it I`ll post up the link.

What paste are people using? Mx-5 in a cross with a dot in each segment?
I used Thermal Grizzly using the cross and four dots.

Is it ok it I get 20mm width ones? Presume I don't need wider than 20mm for a chip.

It`s worth reading through this thread just to see what differences other people are getting, in the end I settled for the GP Extreme 2mm die side and 3mm back plate side.

you will need 1.5mm Gelid Ultimate for the fronts , the 2.0mm is for the rear . As for which paste , i used Thermal grizzly kroynaut and just did a dot and used the included spatula to spread it over the die to get good coverage ... seems to have worked perfect as no issue with core temp and hotspot is 10.5 deg over core which is perfect on a 3080 and would indicate good contact with the heatsink :)

Ok ultimates seem harder to find. So will go with 2mm extreme for the die side.

Plenty on Ebay and where i always get mine from .... just search for Gelid Ultimate 1.5mm , they will come in 90 x 50 size pads and 1 will just about be enough for the front but would suggest 2 to cover you for any mistakes :)

Looks like we will be getting a drop in the next few days if history repeats itself so make sure your ready if still after a card , UK drops are normally a couple days after the EU drops and all cards have dropped including the 3080 :D
