30xx Series Founders Edition

I bought my 3060Ti when the limits were different, so I couldn't buy the 3080FE later down the line, luckily a friend bought me one when he bought my 3060Ti, I bought mine under a set of rules that were then changed after my purchase so they shouldn't effect me anyway as I probably wouldn't have bought the 3060Ti if it had meant I couldn't get a 3080FE down the line as that's the card I wanted to start with...

The mythical 3080!

I spoke to them and they confirmed it’s one per customer.

I’m still tempted to try and order one anyway haha.

Where does the 3080 fe stand in the current pantheon of graphics cards for £649? Is it still worth it compared to the others on offer currently (ignoring any which might come out soon)?

Absolutely.

Utter bargain TBH.

But guys didn't you get the memo..... 10gb isn't enough!!!! There are loads of games suffering because of it, or so we are told..... :p

In all seriousness though, for £650, nothing comes close unless you can get a 6800xt or a 6900xt for £600-700, that's assuming you don't care for having dlss, shadowplay/nvenc or good ray tracing performance or whatever else nvidia might offer over amd.

With the above. Would you say the 3080 FE is the best option for that price range?

For sure.

I bought a 3080 Ti FE only because there were zero drops for the 3080 FE at the time of purchase.

Have to say the build quality is superb, easily the best of all the GPU's I've had over the years, and the cooler is quiet and effective, clearly the best of any Nvidia Founders/Reference cards.

Should have heard the EVGA GTX 670 SC cooler.. LMAO worse than the 480 stock blower.

From someone who owns a 3080FE it's been a good card, but I bought it over over 16 months ago, so at the time £650 was the best price for any 3080 and the most I was personally willing to pay for a GPU, so Radeon 6800xt was out of the question at the time, as were any AIB 3080's. It has served me well at 3440x1440 and 4K resolutions, but I tend to be quite behind the curve in the games I play. I've only played 3 games that have ray tracing (WD:Legions, Riftbreaker and currently Deathloop) None of which have made me think I really need or am bothered about RT stuff just yet.

So, it depends on if you have many games that require ray tracing. If all the games you play are mainly rasterised then you could also consider either a Radeon 6800xt or for a bit more a 6900xt which will have stronger performance in rasterised games and have a bit more VRAM buffer for resolutions like 4K in the future.

If I had to choose I'd go for the 6800XT - that's the choice I made. I owned the 3080 since launch up until around 6 months ago when I sold (for what I paid, bizarrely) with the intention of upgrading to 4000 series. After gauging how things were progressing, I decided to buy a 6800XT as a hedge against the new release being a **** show. I only bought the 6800XT because the 3080 wasn't available.

I wouldn't swap the 6800XT for a 3080 now, and as it happens the new gen is indeed a **** show so I'm glad I did what I did. :)

649 seems a great price when you consider how the new cards are looking price wise. I imagine for most people this will do nicely, especially when upgrading from a 1 series, like me
