30xx Series Founders Edition

From someone who owns a 3080FE it's been a good card, but I bought it over over 16 months ago, so at the time £650 was the best price for any 3080 and the most I was personally willing to pay for a GPU, so Radeon 6800xt was out of the question at the time, as were any AIB 3080's. It has served me well at 3440x1440 and 4K resolutions, but I tend to be quite behind the curve in the games I play. I've only played 3 games that have ray tracing (WD:Legions, Riftbreaker and currently Deathloop) None of which have made me think I really need or am bothered about RT stuff just yet.

So, it depends on if you have many games that require ray tracing. If all the games you play are mainly rasterised then you could also consider either a Radeon 6800xt or for a bit more a 6900xt which will have stronger performance in rasterised games and have a bit more VRAM buffer for resolutions like 4K in the future.

dont want to derail the thread but what FPS are you getting in deathloop, I'm only at 1440p but seem to be struiggling to get over 100fps because of some type of bottleneck

I wouldn't swap the 6800XT for a 3080 now, and as it happens the new gen is indeed a **** show so I'm glad I did what I did. :)
I've had multiple Nvidia cards inc all the current gen and I wouldn't swap my 6900XT for any of them! The AMD Sharpen feature is as good as RT imo if not better, as it can be used on pretty much all games.

Not 1440p but my 4k footage here:

Obviously 1440P will run better but not by much, iirc, with dlss quality, I was getting a constant 80+ fps @ 3440x1440, below is without dlss:

It varies wildly. I've seen it as low as 50 but some parts over 100.

That was with settings maxed but DLSS on quality.

There is definitely something that drags the fps down, I noticed it quite bad in the Updaam area in one particular spot simply by looking one way I had 100fps then turned around and it dropped to 53.

I tried changing Ray traced ambient occlusion setting from quality to performance and that helped even things out a little, and I couldn't tell the difference in visuals.

It now sits above 60fps and I capped it at 90fps (as beyond that I can't tell the difference really) so with gsync I can't really tell when it fluctuates.

Are they likely to come back into stock?
Maybe likely, some people may have tried to buy more than one so depending on when they do the check, they could add more. Just a matter of keep looking I guess. I got one last night that is coming today. I felt it was a good choice for the price and is a decent upgrade from my 1080ti. I do plan on a new build also, but this is a decent upgrade for my current system that I plan to give to my son eventually. I'm in no rush for a new system and my son doesn't need it now, planning on let the new gen settle down a bit first. As always, is about personal choices etc. but 649 was for me too good a price to miss out on.

Not a fan of the power connector, but have read that plenty before so no real surprise. On the 12 pin cables you can buy, it seems as though the two 8 pin adaptors only have 6 wires wired in each of them. Is this OK, does anyone know?

Why on earth are they still operating this new buyers only policy when demand has fallen to normal levels and they're supposedly awash with 3xxx inventory?

Does it only apply to the lower end cards?

I asked them directly Friday and they told me it was across the board.

Damn... finally decided to push the button and buy a FE 3080 to replace my 1080 TI and they've all gone :(

I wonder if they will come back in stock again. Just got to keep checking I suppose.
Just getting a bit windy about the prices for the next gen 40 series cards.

Can't believe people are falling for Jensen's ploy buying oudated GPUs at full MSRP
It gave me an approx 80% increase over my 1080ti for 649. Was a good deal for me. I don't need anymore than that and I don't see any of the 4 series cards being that price. You pay your money and take your choice. For my use the 3080 is more than good enough.
