30xx Series Founders Edition

Be interesting to see how the 3060Ti performs with that extra bandwidth, wonder if they'll do the same with other models..

Didn’t really give much of an improvement with the 3070. And surely the 3060Ti isn’t really bandwidth limited, although every little extra helps (in this case quite a lot extra!).

99% his card is going to be the older stock anyhow.
Seems so, GPU-Z and HWiNFO tells me the memory type is GDDR6, even though the order description states it's GDD6X (and again in the order email I got, these two are the only places where it says GDDR6X, nowhere else), not that it matters a lot, I dunno how much difference it'll make and it's already 30-40% faster over my RX 5600 XT anyway.

I do have a slight issue, the 8 to 12 pin wouldn't fit at the main end of the PCIe cable, I had to use the daisy chain end (Corsair SF750 Platinum PSU btw), I'll have to test the other PCIe cable and see if it fits there.

Yeah, I'm gonna send in a ticket and see what can be done, but given my experiences with the place, I'm not expecting much to be honest.

I just checked again and it's labeled as having GDDR6 now instead of GDDR6X as before.

Problem is, if you do send it back for a refund, you'll probably not be able to get another as their system will show you as having a 30 series card...
Yup, I've been reading a bit about this, that's an issue I want to avoid, potentially getting locked out of getting another for 2 years because of a possible typo? That doesn't seem worth the effort to be honest.

So, question is, would you have ordered a 3060Ti knowing it was one of the original ones, or would you have waited for what is essentially a free upgrade on the newer versions?

Its totally possible that they have the newer model in stock so you could argue the toss and get them to ship one of the newer stock cards rather than an older one.

I ordered it not knowing a single thing about GDDR6X variant, I wasn't made aware about it until hours after when I ended up on an article talking about it, then I went back and checked the order details.

So much for nvidia sabotaging ampere with ada release........

NVIDIA updates DirectX12 driver, up to 24% better performance in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

Graphics cards such as RTX 3090 Ti can see up to 24.6% better performance, but these improvements also affect mid-range SKUS such as RTX 3060, delivering 3.4% to 7.3% higher framerate.

Our DirectX 12 optimizations apply to GeForce RTX graphics cards and laptops, though improvements will vary based on your specific system setup, and the game settings used. In our testing, performance increases were found in a wide variety of DirectX 12 games, across all resolutions:
  • Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: up to 24% (1080p)
  • Battlefield 2042: up to 7% (1080p)
  • Borderlands 3: Up to 8% (1080p)
  • Call of Duty: Vanguard: up to 12% (4K)
  • Control: up to 6% (4K)
  • Cyberpunk 2077: up to 20% (1080p)
  • F1Ⓡ 22: up to 17% (4K)
  • Far Cry 6: up to 5% (1440p)
  • Forza Horizon 5: up to 8% (1080P)
  • Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition: up to 8% (4k)
  • Red Dead Redemption 2: up to 7% (1080p)
  • Shadow of the Tomb Raider: up to 5% (1080p)

Nvidia not holding back at all.

EDIT:

NVIDIA has included new shader compilation optimizations, reduced CPU overhead and added Resizable Bar support for games like Forza Horizon 5 or F1 22. This was an effort to reduce CPU-bound bottlenecks to unlock more power for the discrete graphics.

Seems they have made some improvements to rebar too.

I'll get some benches done of before and after.
