Yeah not something i would use personally myself but somebody with a projector may find it useful :)

I would guess that most would go via the 2nd video output on their AV reciever etc rather than the deck but you never know

so they suggest audio+video on hdmi out, may, through interference, degrade video.

That isnt anything new, and makes complete sense if your setup allows.

What we were commenting on was using the 1080p output over the audio only - which to me sounds completely pointless

( I realised) The 1080p video if that provides an output for a 2nd tv via cat6 say (without needing a splitter)
or if it can provide a (sdr/hdcp2.0) downscale of netflix/4Kdisc that cannot be obtained off of other hdmi.

Why would it degrade quality, its digital?

if you have un-necessary digital switching due to audio signals in the vicinity/same 'chip' as the switching of the video signals, this can cause cross-talk signal degradation (degraded timing or wrong data) and also audio switching is pulling current and potentially degrading the local power supply.
I do not know what error detection is in the hdmi signalling data to identify if an error has occurred in hdmi cable transmission and correct it.

Two HDMI outputs to separate the picture and audio: If this possibility had not much influence in 1080p, with UHD TV and especially HDR10 with Blu-ray UHD, you can clearly get a much better image Separating the audio from the video and connecting the video output directly to the TV or video projector. Besides, on the OLED the contribution is more obvious than on any other TV!

I'd take that was a massive bag of salt.

I cant verify personally but its been mentioned a few times by the reviewers on AVF that is how they set up if given the choice

(if it was what hifi , if I read that rag, then I would be as dubious as you - but its pretty well standard on even high and mid-range sources now)

Sounds like it's the standard full releases.

I must admit on purchasing this item I thought I would get six 4K UHD Blue Rays in cheap card board sleeves. Each movie comes in its own plastic UHD Blue Ray box and each one also contains a second HD Blue Ray disc copy. Some even have a third disc containing the extras.

That's from the Amazon reviews.

As above very good price for essentially 3 decent films (Life of Pi, Kingsman, The Revenant)

Problem for me (apart from being out of stock) is that I really only want Kingsman

I would probably watch ID once and then forget about it and wouldnt even bother watching the others at all. Prices arent going to be great for re-sale value so its a bit pointless imo buying the set with the intent to immediately sell on 5 of the 6 films

It does seem very reasonable, looking at others on there star Trek was 33 quid:eek:.

Ok, simple question as I'm not reading 300+ posts.

Is the Panny 700 worth the extra over the Sammy 8500? They seem very similar in performance and the latter can be had for £250 now whereas the Panny is still nearly £400.

EDIT: Hmm, can get the Panny 900 for £390 afer cashback - worth it?

Urm, again in English? Think you have a bit of a typo in there so not sure what you're recommending.

Actually it now seems I may be able to get the Sammy for £132 so I think I know which way I'm jumping :)

Yes a minor typo lol . Where can you get the Sammy? Could use a spare player

Not sure about mentioning 'competitors' but it's a "discount if bought with a TV" type deal and a friend is buying the TV but has no use for the player. Plus I can get another 8% off everything from there.

Finally caved

Hi all,

Couldn't resist the rainforest price - delivers tomorrow. My questions for you:-

What is the best way to connect it up to my TV and AV box. There was some mention of two HDMI sockets on the player one for picture and one for sound only - can any one advise the best way to connect it all up for best picture/sound performance?

My Tv is Samsung JSD9000 55" 4K
AV is Denon 7200AW

Many thanks for any advice you can give me guys - want to make sure I get the best out of it.

Mark
