Wowhd reviews on trustpilot are awful, can they even be trusted?

Used them a few times for the Star Trek UHD's etc no problem. I believe its the same company that used to be CDWow.
Would still like to get Oblivion but you cant get it for a sensible price anymore. Many who bought it dirt cheap off Amazon are selling it on Ebay for stupid prices.
Missed the boat with that one.

Well I saw John Wick on there for less than £15 but the reviews put me off.

I just looked John Wick up as an example. On Amazon UK:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/John-Wick-...UTF8&qid=1487008673&sr=8-4&keywords=john+wick

£38.99 at the time I post this. For curiosity I looked up the same on Amazon USA:

https://www.amazon.com/John-Wick-Bl...&refinements=p_n_format_browse-bin:9397930011

$15.96 right now. Possibly you have to add Sales Tax in the USA, not sure. But even so that's a mad difference!

Reviews of John Wick or of Wowhd? Curious because Wowhd seem to be a lot cheaper than Amazon (John Wick is £15 on there) but I've never heard of them before.

I've got John wick from wowhd . At under £15 it avoids tax duties on arrival.

I looked up Wowhd as I had never heard of them and there were a LOT of very terrible reports about them. They even got a section on it on Wikipedia. How long did it take for the film to arrive?

I use an Xbox One S 1TB... I would buy an Oppo player if I thought it would give me something more but having demo'd one and having the new audio due to be part of preview program, you don't really get much benefit.

JB Hi-Fi is a great place for deals, often do some pretty good 2 for X or 3 for X. Coming from Australia it also means the bluray is same region as us aswell.

My collection has hit 39 recently. Waiting for Pacific Rim to arrive. John Wick, Planet Earth 2, the remaining Star Treks and Ghostbusters I haven't got are my next purchases. I normally keep an eye out on eBay / classifieds and pick films up for £9-£13.

Didn't know there were that many releases now, impressive. But please, PLEASE put them in some kind of order does that not drive you mad?

My Pacific Rim arrived today from JB Hifi. Bargain it was. Wife is going out tomorrow night and the kids are at their grandparents. I can feel some metal mashing coming on. Turn up the volume and grab the popcorn!

Seen a couple of people with 100 or so on AVForums. Quite allot of 4K Blurays about now.

I also love the chaos, who needs order!

Mine also came today! Can't wait to try it out. For around £12 it was a bargain.

I watched 'John Wick' on UHD 4k blu-ray tonight, very nice image and decent HDR.

Just in time for the sequel as well which I should be going to see tomorrow at my local Odeon.

Pacific Rim still remains the HDR king IMO.

Sorry for the late reply. Can't recall exact time frame, but less than 2 weeks

Final verdict on the xbox one s then? I'm ready to buy now but it's taken me ages to make my mind up, xbox one s or the Panasonic 4k player.

I got the Xbox 1S and use it for all my needs with Tesco's pretty neat deal few days ago, works great and films look amazing in 4K. Works perfect and doubles up as great game console to crash onto couch with.

Will it do HDR as well as the stand alone player?
In theory it should be exactly the same - its more about the tv at this point.

There are so many different varients of HDR in regards to brightness etc, even one tv which has the same brightness level as another right next door to each other arent always percieved the same - its just the nature of HDR at the moment (not helped by such a new technology, but the tv companies dont make it easy either).

edit - there is so much **** out there in regards to discs. Maybe Im remembering it wrong but when BR's came out (admittedly because it was backed by sony to start) - the first film was Casino Royale , and there was a lot of really good stuff coming out at the start. a lot of the UHD discs are such terrible films, and a lot of ancient re-releases its quite disappointing.

Im determined to be a lot more choosy this time around, Ive got 5 UHD's at the moment and I think there are two or three others that I might want (Goodfellas, Oblivion and Lucy) but otherwise I can wait for brand new releases and stuff Ive never seen before (like John Wick) .

Every single one I have (I have 5 now)

even plain BR's dont play properly all the time, constant sync / flickering even though I know Ive previously watched The Shallows without issue. Even tried the Shallows a 2nd time and even that is flickering now as well.

Its more than that now, as the Sammy can be found for similar money to the XBS including the cost of a remote etc, unless you are going to use MS' s console for gaming its daft to put up with minor inconveniences by using a console than getting a dedicated disc player.

...

FrankJH, following your earlier comment though - presumambly you would not recommend an XBS ?
and have, maybe, considered returning yours as not fit for (BR/UHD) purpose, just for games ?
... maybe I misunderstood ....

XBOX 1S does HDR fine for me. Not seen any issues at all with any flickering or what not with DVD's, Blue rays or Ultra 4K discs. All works as smooth as butter on the Xbox for me. Just finished watching Captain America Civil war and while being a crappy film, looked great.
