• Competitor rules

Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

5070 = 4090 for 499.

60 fps base frame rate with MFG boosting it to say 500 fps, still feels like 60 fps, despite having the smoothness of a really high frame rate. This can actually be quite jarring if you're at all latency sensitive.

But the games that DO. What are you going to do if you have a brilliant experience and suddenly find it's all fake? Turn it off?
Why are we debating fantasy scenarios here? Most people on here already own a card capable of using frame generation and so have already tried it. "A brilliant experience" is certainly not the words I'd use for it, and I've always turned it back off again after testing in various games (most recently Indiana Jones, where I found it made my experience markedly less smooth when accounting for the wilder swings in framerate). Yes, if there was some amazing fantasy version of frame generation that had none of the downsides then of course people would be happy with it. But that's not reality.

I'm not debating fantasy scenarios, the point is, people tell themselves it's not good because "it's fake".

You are quite literally making up fantasy scenarios. Go back and read your own posts for goodness sake. And as I said, most people have already tried frame generation via one means or another at this point. The only people telling themselves stories are those seeking to justify it as a selling point for their favourite brand.

I'm not making fantasy scenarios, I've used it as well, I'm not disputing YOUR instance, but the point is, a lot of people will suddenly stick their nose up when they find "it's fake", this is fact.

But people are saying they can notice the difference and not in a good way ? Because they can toggle between them they experienced it

techpowerup benchmarks

RTX4070 baseline: 100% performance
RTX 4090: 200% performance

This means 4090 is 100% faster than 4070

Nvidia non fake frame two game benchmarks from today: 5070 is 140% performance

So there you have it

4090 is 100% faster than 4070 and 5070 is 40% faster than 4070.

Make of that what you will, but the way I see it is the 4090 is 60% faster than the 5070

I've messed about with frame-gen using Lossless Scaling on the Legion Go, and decided it wasn't really for me.
I just like the up-scaling. Maybe as tech advances it might become more awesome in the future. Not fully against it, just a bit turned off by comical marketing like "5070 = 4090"...

I feel people are being out of line and judgemental just because somebody likes the idea of frame gen giving 4090 frame rates to lesser 50 series cards...

Frame gen can feel bad to some and fine for others.
I thought I would find it bad but I honestly like it on my 4090. I don't notice any lag or glitches from it and generally find it does what it's supposed to do.

Also, screaming "fake frames whaaa". Grow up.
What frames aren't fake? Fake pre-baked lighting, fake bump mapping, procedural landscape generation, fake upscaled textures. Every frame is full of fake elements so claiming frame gen is fake frames and acting like it's a deal breaker is straight up backwards. If somebody is not negatively effected by it and they get more enjoyment from their games from it, why is it a problem?

As an avid gamer and enthusiast, I buy the fastest card so that I don't need to inject fake frames into my eyeballs. This MFG (the MFG meaning Migraine From Graphics) is a sticking plaster to the fact they just can't use sheer grunt to generate true frames anymore, they need AI to "make it up".

And I notice it. In my current game of choice, Satisfactory, I really notice a difference if DLSS is on and even more so if FG is turned on. I hate it. I'd rather have 110fps at true rendering than have 190fps and a migraine an hour later (tested at 3840x1600, 4090FE).

If the 5090 can use it's horsepower to increase the FPS rather than rely on AI then I'm interested, if not then I think the 4090 will be the last of the true graphic cards. Hopefully the coming reviews will be more truthful.

How well the 5090 handles DaVinci Resolve is also of interest, all that lovely RAM lol!
