• Competitor rules

Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

5070 = 4090 for 499.

As an avid gamer and enthusiast, I buy the fastest card so that I don't need to inject fake frames into my eyeballs. This MFG (the MFG meaning Migraine From Graphics) is a sticking plaster to the fact they just can't use sheer grunt to generate true frames anymore, they need AI to "make it up".

And I notice it. In my current game of choice, Satisfactory, I really notice a difference if DLSS is on and even more so if FG is turned on. I hate it. I'd rather have 110fps at true rendering than have 190fps and a migraine an hour later (tested at 3840x1600, 4090FE).

If the 5090 can use it's horsepower to increase the FPS rather than rely on AI then I'm interested, if not then I think the 4090 will be the last of the true graphic cards. Hopefully the coming reviews will be more truthful.

How well the 5090 handles DaVinci Resolve is also of interest, all that lovely RAM lol!

Enjoy giving up gaming or just playing older titles.
Upscaling and frame gen aren't going anywhere, they'll be used more & more.

Gotta love Nvidia’s marketing. They do know how to build hype. Only a totally incompetent buffoon incapable of critical thought would expect the 5070 to match a 4090.

It might be more like the 4080, but at that price it is a winner if a GPU.
And crucially age like a 4070 or any other 12GB card!

If AMD are no longer really in GPU race, then planning things so that 5070 users have to upgrade sooner than later makes a lot of sense for Nvidia.

I assume when they say it reaches "4090 performance" using MFG it means just when the 4090 is being used natively without using DLSS and frame gen itself.

If you listen back to the presentation then Jensen does say it is "impossible without AI" for the performance of the 5070.

The 5070ti is £729 on Nvidias website.

There might be a silly rush initially but I'd fully expect to be able to get one for around that price eventually. Forget the 3xxx series rush, that was due to mining.

The scalping and mark ups won't be anywhere near as bad this time around. The 4xxx series was readily available for RRP on the whole.
Yeah don’t panic and pay scalper prices for these at launch, most of the cards are only increasing performance by a tier over the 40 series so only one card is really offering a new performance level that wasn’t already available.

Yes, the 4090 is going along at stock, happy, low temps etc. Meanwhile the 5070 is having its **** rung off it. Think theres 75 games too that take advantage of this "miracle".
Nvidia snake oil at it again, as soon as real life comparisons are made it will show.
I was looking to getting a 5090 but might just sit with my 4090 until the next series unless theres huge improvements.

As a 4090 owner I want to cry but cheer.

4090 used market will be melt down

Hardware unboxed says it's a scam to catch the smoothbrains, don't believe the hype

Theres only 1 game on there slides that show the 5090 vs 4090 without using any upscaling technology which is far cry 6 and seems to be only a small improvment. I think 3rd party benchmarks are going to be eye opening..

yea he meant DLSS 4. there's no way a 5070 = 4090. 4080, sure. hopefully. I don't like the lack of actual benchmarks but this seems to be standard practise these days.

Haha!, in honesty though I think there will be a knee jerk reaction from some who will panic and sell their 4090s,4080s now for chump change.
If you watch the Gamers Nexus video Steve shows that Nvidia had FG on 40 Series, MFG (4X Mode) on 50 Series cards. So basically making 3 extra fps of "fakeness" per single frame. (I think the 5090 looks like a 4090 overclocked)
End of if people do sell their cards then theyre a tad silly to say the least. until real world figures and reviews are out its the usual crap Nvidia (and AMD) spout

Also did they cover what power sockets they are using for these cards? surely not the same as the 40 series?
I think it’s a 12v 2x6 so backwards compatible but with some safety improvements. Looks to be diagonal this time on the 5090 at least.

We thought that nvidia might be hiding something with the 4090 pure rasterisation last time, because of the slides. It turned out not to be the case. :)

CRT tvs and monitors have build in DLSS btw
the power of AI

A lot of modern cameras come with physical stabilisers built in so your point is moot
erm does the camera change your perception of movement? would it be fun to walk around the world with image stabilisation googles? I'd imagine its similar to being drunk or on a ship at sea..

It's only a perception its not real, it's jarring

Not all of them, you could buy 50hz CRT's. Generally the 100hz CRT's were crap, as interpolation technology was very basic. Usually created pixeallation and juddering.

Not impressed with modern frame motion interpolation with my LG OLED, create a soap opera effect.

Although with video cards if the source has a higher fps in the first place it's got more data to work with, better hardware scaling etc
