5090 Price

nothing against anyone who wants to splash on their PC but after 2 years the system barely worth more than a quarter of its original price, it depreciates so rapidly I just don't see the point.
Yeah, I don't even play that many games these days so it's a waste of money. I like researching the parts and building the PC but the novelty wears off and there's always something better no more than 12 months away.

well to build a high end ULTRA gaming pc, including monitor and peripherals, is now going to set you back somewhere between £5000-£8000 depending on how much you splash. Even mid range pc is going to cost you somewhere between £2000-£3000. I think consoles and handhelds are going to take over the market eventually. I would rather take that £8000 and spend £600 on a console and take that £7400 and do something else more productive, that's just me personally and nothing against anyone who wants to splash on their PC but after 2 years the system barely worth more than a quarter of its original price, it depreciates so rapidly I just don't see the point.

Just look at the steam survey of graphics card, most people own 4060 downwards and frankly I don't see why anyone would bother with PC for gaming in such brackets, they should just buy a console for gaming and saves themselves lots of headaches. Before PC games used to be cheap compared to consoles now there is not much difference for AAA titles. Visually most of the games are console ports and look very similar to their PC counterparts.

I played with PS5 for few years and tbh there was not much difference, is the PC experience better, yeah of course, is it night and day better NO. My experience with console was very enjoyable and comparable to PC.

I agree with this take, haven't bought a top end GPU in years, the prices seem genuinely mental. We've got a PS5 Pro, and honestly games look amazing on it. It is annoying having to pay to play online though! We've got kids so we have a few gaming systems around. When we crossplay on PC / console the experience is more or less the same. There is even mouse and keyboard support now.

I could be tempted for a 70 Ti series card at no more than £800, but anymore than that and this may be the first Nvidia generation that I just stop buying Nvidia brand new, I will stick with used GPUs or cheaper alternatives..

I mean... I'm in no position to say this (as I've already said I'm getting a 5090) - but just the thought of paying £800 for a 70 class card kinda makes me feel a little sick xD

I wouldn't believe them ;)

Gibbo already posted these cards are going be in huge demand and has limited OCUK sales to the UK only

So it either very low stock levels or these GPU's are going be far cheaper then people thinking or saying or a bit of both

for sure, I can imagine the scalper prices being that high but RRP wont be (i hope)

completely agree. the idea of a midrange PC (just for gaming) is almost a bit pointless as you can get consoles that do pretty much the same job. If people use their PC's for more than just gaming then sure but if not you may as well just get a console.

also, 5k-8k on a pc seems insane and I thought the numbers were exaggerated but when you consider a 5090 is going to be around 1500+ and a top end 4k monitor cost about 1000+ thats already around 2500 just on 2 components so its not farfetched at all

The biggest problem for me is there just no AAA games anymore to make me want to spend out a huge amount of money on buying a 5090
This is the biggest argument against the upgrade right now. Nothing is on the immediate horizon which necessitates the need to jump up a generation right now for me at least. It will be interesting to see where the prices settle at however for launch, will certainly be keeping an eye on things.

Just popped in here to say that I can afford one of these.

I won't buy one, but having read this forum I realise the importance of announcing to everyone that I can afford to buy one. Hopefully this makes everyone reading this happy :D

;)

You can only afford one

Rumour has it most the other guys in this thread get enough pocket money to afford buy one each month

Surely it would be bad form to declare that the 5090 is too cheap and mass market and one is going to wait for the Quadro edition before the official prices are published...

The problem is that SLI was such a poory supported and unstable hack that anyone who's prevoiusly owned an SLI setup, like myself, would never buy one again even if it made sense!
Yeah, but think of the bragging rites for those who've not been burnt yet - over 1kW in GPU power alone :D

It was so incredibly hit or miss on a game to game basis and was entirely dependent on decent drivers. I did enjoy having quad sli at one point, although the diminishing returns were huge. Always stuck to a powerful single card solution after that.

How come dual card didn't work for games in multi monitor like flight sim or driving games? where you have one GPU for each monitor , rather than one GPU driving multiple monitors?
