5090 Price

How come dual card didn't work for games in multi monitor like flight sim or driving games? where you have one GPU for each monitor , rather than one GPU driving multiple monitors?
Your overall performance will be dominated by the busiest GPU - so to get the best scaling, you really want each card to be doing roughly the same amount of work. This is non-trivial but usually works quite well if you keep the regions allocated to each card pretty small - it's usually better to slice the whole scene up like a chess-board than have one GPU do the top/left half of the whole image...

I wouldn't believe them ;)

Gibbo already posted these cards are going be in huge demand and has limited OCUK sales to the UK only

So it either very low stock levels or these GPU's are going be far cheaper then people thinking or saying or a bit of both

Tbf he's not going to say they anticipate lukewarm interest so no need to rush to buy one..

I'm going with £1799 for the FE.

Whatever its priced at will still require this :D

Then some of this ... :D

Honestly if the prices are as silly as like they pulled with the PS5 PRO.. then Nvidia can let them sit and collect dust as Sony has even after a price drop even in the first week and odd offers .. People have not fallen for it and hoping same will happen if Nvidia pulls a fast one too.

If we're talking about mGPU here, the way SLI and Xfire works/ed was for each GPU to render each full frame in alternating fashion. And so was the reason mGPU could never really get away from microstuttering as it took a few milliseconds for the GPUs to alternate frames.

You can only afford one

Rumour has it most the other guys in this thread get enough pocket money to afford buy one each month
I can only fit one in my PC. But maybe I should get a second one and stick it in a display cabinet on the mantlepiece, I can then let people know that I can afford two, as well as forking out for the display cabinet.

It's crucial that others know you can afford stuff, especially if you have no plans to buy it :D

;)

Just called Barclays, remortgage has been approved, I'll be buying 25 x 5090's.

Your face when you order them by phone to haggle (“I want 25 5090s… will you accept… £50k?”) and then 35 bags of these show up:

“This isn’t what I ordered!”
“Now now sir, we even sent you 66 extra tees for free. After all… the more you buy, the more you save!”
“Fffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!”

How close to 4090 do you think the 5080 will be in terms of performance?
It will be close. But close is only superficually accurate because 5080 will not be able to crank settings to highest in a few games due to the less VRAM.

Also, I have a strong hunch 4090 will do better at higher resolutions due to the bigger bus width. I know on paper the mem bandwidth should be about equal between the cards due to the 5080's insanely fast memory speeds. But we've seen several times over where the card with the bigger bus does better at higher resolutjons even if mem speeds are equal. I think reviews will show this (and reviewers on the take will show their color by leaving these comparisons out).

I agree with this take, haven't bought a top end GPU in years, the prices seem genuinely mental. We've got a PS5 Pro, and honestly games look amazing on it. It is annoying having to pay to play online though! We've got kids so we have a few gaming systems around. When we crossplay on PC / console the experience is more or less the same. There is even mouse and keyboard support now.

I could be tempted for a 70 Ti series card at no more than £800, but anymore than that and this may be the first Nvidia generation that I just stop buying Nvidia brand new, I will stick with used GPUs or cheaper alternatives..
This month I built a better than PS5 pro PC for £800 for a relative. That's only £100 more than the PS5 Pro.

It's only high end PC parts that have gone bonkers. PC gaming is still the best bang for you money considering what it offers.
