5090 Price

5-10% either side depending on the game/scenario. I think it'll be pretty close tbh.
Definitely not slower than 4090. There's always been this misconception that the 4090 is way faster than 4080, while in reality is in between 15% and 30%, depending on resolution.

Even 4k native RT, which is the worst case scenario for 4080 vs 4090, we're still talking 25%.

Lol 4090 at 1440p, gap is much bigger at 4k then even more with rt.
My bet is 5080 will be 10% slower than 4090 in raster and ever so slightly ahead in rt.

10% slower means the 5080 is only 10% faster than 4080. Doesn't make any sense.

I edited the post above by the way, these graphs were made a week ago on Techpowerup's newest built, so they're all fresh.

10% slower than 4090 doesn't equal 10% faster than 4080. I'm not getting into a maths argument but it just doesn't.
Guess we will have to just wait and see.

Just going from https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gpu-hierarchy,4388.html -- we're looking 25% raster and close to 50% RT difference... I think being 5-10% either side is a perfectly reasonable (well... it's absolutely not, but I'm grading on the special "nVidia" curve not a "semi-decent company" curve) expectation.

Is there a thread where you specced the parts, i'm looking to build for Son no.2 in the new year.. and looking at a simliar budget..
Just a Ryzen 7600 with a 7800 XT, got a couple of good deals during the sales.

Don't overspend where it's not necessary for example motherboard, case, ram.

Not sure what he did but I'd look at something close to this (you can make it cheaper but I hate skimping on really long lasting components like the PSU etc)

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £948.84 (includes delivery: £0.00)

I spent less than half on ram, psu and used the stock cooler. Shopped around a bit during the sales some good deals were about on SSD, GPU, CPU and mobo.

Like I said no need to overspend, consoles use the absolute bottom tier of parts. I've had good PSUs last months and no name PSUs going strong for 15 years. It's all a lottery.

Cheers both, don't want to hijack this 5090 price thread, so will start a new thread in the new year with a more solid idea of budget.

This month I built a better than PS5 pro PC for £800 for a relative. That's only £100 more than the PS5 Pro.

It's only high end PC parts that have gone bonkers. PC gaming is still the best bang for you money considering what it offers.

I doubt it's better than a PS5 Pro at that price tbh :D You also spent more..

Surely there's no point in the 5080 then. A 4090 has 24gb of vram.

Probably why they will try and tie certain new features to 50 series cards only. Theres also some argument to be made for efficiency, but 8GB is a steep drop on a card that is going to be aimed at high resolutions with RT.

At £800 budget it's pretty easy. Remember the PS5 pro is still using a 3600 CPU equivalent which is very low end nowadays, even a 5600 that goes for around £80 blows it away and the extra £100 is easily made up for with no online fees.
