Massive hit compared to an i7, though heaven is not CPU dependent at all.
Greebo, you're running 470 SLI, you're expecting the 580 to come close to it?
My comment only applied to heaven benchmark in relation to the cpu not making much difference.
Not really expecting it to beat my gtx470's
but it's a valid comparison on price point though. And big things have been promised/eluded to with the gtx580 especially in heaven and high tessalation hence the alledged report big gains in heaven and stone giant.
However, my point is my two gtx470's cost £360. If the gtx580 is over £400 then it's too much for the perfromance. It needs to be under £400 and by some margin.
Don;t forget a 5870 is on par (or even slightly faster????) than gtx470 so if my cards beat the gtx580 up then so will 5870 xfire and even overclocked 5850 xfire and 5970.
And we haven;t even got to ATI's next high cards in a few weeks.
I;ve seen loads of people sell 5850's and 5870's in xfire in order to buy new cards. I;ve even seen people saying they will sell their gtx470's or their single gtx480's.
I can;t see why though. The gtx580 only seems to be offering maybe a 10% gain over a gtx480 and will still, even overclocked lose out to xfire and sli setups.
So the price is going to be the key. Who knows, perhaps they will play a blinder and release it at £300 to start a price war with ATI.
