Are you using stock settings or have you changed in bios / Ryzen Master etc?
Mine’s stock; waiting for the PBO2 update before I OC. Try asking in the 5600x and 5800x main thread where people post their settings.

I kind of regret getting the 5800x, like others I got tired of waiting on my order of a 5900x ordered in the first 15 minutes with absolutely no indication of when I would get it (not ordered from here as was showing pre-order whilst the other place was showing in stock).
Anyway the main reason for my disappointment is the heat this thing pumps out. Currently running 76 degrees at 35% usage, this is using a 360 AIO. I've messed about with PBO and Curve Optimizer for many hours, but this hasn't achieved much. Even at idle a few % load can push temps from 35 to 50. There's also some games that are pushing 70 - 80 % utilisation so not confident on the longevity of this CPU.
Possibly as I'm around 10c lower with the same cooler but I do have a high airflow case so that might be helping also.My 5800X runs hot too. At stock I was hitting 90 when at 100% load although I have tweaked the settings to bring this down to 80 with no significant loss in performance. I'm using the Wraith prism cooler. The cooler did slip a centimetre sideways 3-4 times when I was installing it, do you think I might have upset the spread of thermal paste because of that?
I've actually left the side of case off so that shouldn't be a factor?Possibly as I'm around 10c lower with the same cooler but I do have a high airflow case so that might be helping also.
Maybe worth a repaste then, I did a thin layer on the CPU and also on the cooler to fill in the gaps between the heat pipes.I've actually left the side of case off so that shouldn't be a factor?
you tried reapplying your thermal paste? Completely stock I see ~58-60 during gaming, 68-70 with all cores being slammed in eg cinebench... in a custom loop at the moment but not going to be much different to a good 360mm AIO
High temperatures with 5800X you will have to accept and stop worrying. 75 in cinebench stock is actually a good result.I kind of regret getting the 5800x

You went with all-core overclock, but the PPT limit route would yield better single thread and keep gaming perf.
Drop PPT limit in PBO to something like 110W. And apply negative curve optimizer. Lose some percent in multicore Cinebench, keep or gain single core. Never see temps above 70.
Made the swap from 3700X to 5800X yesterday. I was going to hold out for 5900X but figured I didn't really require the extra cores and would be saving a fair chunk of change going for a 5800X on deal.
The performance upgrade is noticeable and with that comes a fair bit more head (understandable for the extra TDP). I'm seeing 30-35c idle, ~65-70c in games and 75-80c in things like Cinebench (using Dark Pro 4 Cooler). I could probably tweak the fan curve to help but it seems safe for now
Those temps are absolutely fine and while you can probably shave another 10c off while maintaining the same performance with some tinkering even left at stock you have nothing to worry about.Seeing very similar temps on my (stock) 5800X with a noctua d15s - highest the temp gets up to is 79 / 80C in Cinebench. Had been hoping for slightly better, but not bad looking at other results really.

Nice, also glad to see all cores boosting to 4850MHz at all stock apart from XMP memory profile.Similar temps to what I'm seeing, but with a 360mm aio, PBO enabled and curve optimiser configured for individual cores. I'd be more than happy with those temps on air as these chips do run hot.

I'll be tinkering for sure.Worth messing with a negative offset in curve optimiser, PBO and clock speed increase to see what it will do![]()
I'll be tinkering for sure.
In the meantime, anyone think this might be a bit too close to the gpu? Perhaps I should consider using a vertical mount?

One of the reasons i swapped out same cooler for an aioI'll be tinkering for sure.
