5870 going insane. And taking me with it!

@JAKUS - you may want to evaluate your inter-personal skills a bit ;)

@Firenze, from all the to'ing and fro'ing I could make out on here, your CPU voltage seemed higher than normal, and when underclocked your system was fine and played the games fine, just the odd bit of artifacting on-screen?

You've sailed through memtests and those have turned out fine from what I read above, so check that off the list. If you can, any chance you could check the voltage running through your 5870, and the corresponding core and memory clocks. Personally, I think as mentioned somewhere in the mess above, you may have a little bit of a "naff" card that might need either a) more volts pumped through or b) underclocking a little bit, more-so on the memory rather than the core.

Let us know how you get on.

And JAKUS is like tequila, take it with a pinch of salt ;)

I really don't appreciate Your smartass attacks, I like many others give freely Help and advice, most of the time we don't even get a thank You !

When You try to help someone over a few days it does get a little frustrating when they don't appear to be paying full attention and You go around in circles.

You know It may well be the last time I bother to take the time and effort to help people with problems.

I think you did a great job helping and you really weren't condescending

Is it only battlefield you have problems with? BC2 isn't the best game to use as a stability test, I don't know anyone I play with that doesn't get at least the odd crash in it, some get a more.

You said earlier that Prime95 came up with an error on a run didn't you when you OC'd it? Does this ever happen when running at stock? What current voltage are you running on the CPU?

And stick in there Jakus, you've given good advice on all the posts I've read of yours across the forum - it's a shame not everyone says thank you, but 'm sure they still appreciate the help.

Just tried the card in my mate's pc, and had the same issue, definitely the card. Just have to get ocuk to check bf, cos the bench tools don't cause a problem...
